Home prices up in all 6 SoCal counties

The Southern California housing market strengthened its grip on recovery in March, with home-price gains throughout the region and sales increasing in all but two local counties, according to MDA DataQuick.

San Diego and Ventura counties had the biggest price gains, with increases of 15% or better from March 2009. The Inland Empire posted the smallest gains. Regionwide, the median price of a home increased 14% to $285,000.

Although last month was the 21st in a row to see sales up, the 20,500 transactions still were significantly below average. March sales have averaged nearly 25,000 during the past 23 years.
