Honduras to Investigate Situation of Illegal Prisoners in USA

Tegucigalpa, Jul 22 (Prensa Latina) Honduras will investigate the conditions that illegal people face in US prisons, according to a National Congress request, official sources reported.

Several deported people denounced the inhuman treatment received in US land, and motivated Unificacion Democratica Deputy Tomas Andino to present a motion in this respect.

Testimonials gathered by the legislator coincide in saying that male and female children and elderly people, prisoners in the United States, sleep for months on the floor, with their feet and hands chained.

The US authorities take away the children of the detained women to give them in adoption when they are returned to Honduras, Andino explained.

According to the congressman's request, the government will lead the investigation about violation of the immigrants' human rights and a monthly report presentation to the legislator.

El Heraldo daily said the proposal includes giving economic and legal support to the Hondurans that need it.
