TAMPA -- Authorities concluded a four-day fugitive search today, arresting 156 wanted felons.

The operation, called Summer Heat, was led by Tampa police and the U.S. Marshals Service.

In addition to those arrested, police discovered 21 suspects were dead and another 20 were already in prison.

Police spokeswoman Laura McElroy said 46 of those arrested were found in other states and those will not be extradited back to answer local charges.

McElroy said the 156 arrests cleared 186 warrants.

When the operation kicked off Tuesday, police said they were searching for 378 felons with a total of 459 warrants.

The wanted were found in Florida, Georgia, Ohio, Texas and Virginia.

The felony warrants included charges of attempted murder, robbery, battery and drug violations.
