Local NewsBorder Patrol Arrest Teenager with 900 Pounds of Pot
A Border Patrol agent driving near the Santa Teresa Border Patrol Station saw the teenager swerving in Chevrolet Avalanche on New Mexico Highway 9 around 12:45 Tuesday afternoon. The agent stopped the teen and his drug sniffing dog discovered more than 23 bundles of marijuana wrapped in brown packaging tape in the bed of the SUV.

The teenager, who is from Deming, told agents he picked up the SUV in Columbus. Agents believe he was supposed to deliver the drugs in Las Cruces. The teenager along with the pot and the SUV were turned over to the Dona Ana County Sheriff's Department Metro Task Force. The pot has an estimated street value of $742,592.
