How can we help this Woman and Others.

This was sent to me today and I felt like I was ready to barf, seeing as how Ive eaten there before, but this kind of crap needs to stop before someone gets really sick or dies. If anyone wants to help this woman out about what she can do about this or complain to the health dept. but this place needs to be shut down.

Hi my name is Breyanna, I was at the Santiago 's at 180 W. 84th Ave. last night (9/16/0. I ordered a chicken burrito with Green Chile and when it came, it looked awful and so I was picking at it and as I was moving the food around I saw what looked like a beetle, or something I looked closer and it had legs and a sack attached to it, it had a yellow belly ... I don't know anything about bugs or parasites but this was disgusting. I called the waiter over and showed him, he took my plate and just walked away... said nothing... my husband also had stopped eating and was completely grossed out. We sat there for a good 10 mins and no one came over, the wait er ignored us. All I wanted to do was leave but we weren't sure if we should pay or not. We finally went to the counter, and asked what we owed. They weren't even going to comp my meal at first, but finally did, and then made my husband pay for his which he didn't eat. I told her I was calling the health department, to which she replied 'go ahead' . They were so rude and started talking in Spanish and rolling their eyes and I could tell whatever they were saying was negative. I can't believe that the staff didn't even apologize to us .

I have called and left messages for the Owner Gustavo Cisneros and for the manager because I want a refund for the disgusting meal I didn't eat. I have yet to hear from anyone. I am also leaving this review on every website available including Westword.com , Yelp.com and citysearch.com , which are linked directly to the www.eatatsantiagos.com website. I have posted personal bulletin's on Myspace.com and Facebook.com . I am also telling all my friends and family, co-workers and even the fed-ex delivery guy. In addition to that I am copying every person on my e-mail contact list, as to inform and warn others. Which to that end they are all welcome to forward on to their family and friends.

I also have a call into the health department and have obtained the last inspection report which states and I quote 'Food is not in sound condition, is spoiled, filthy, contaminated or adulterated and is not safe for human consumption' Among other things. They also note they found a power tool stored in a box of onions and that no soap or drying towel provided for employees to wash their hands.

So, my request is that someone contact me immediately and refund me the $13.24 that you made us pay. I would also request that you take a look at the requirements of the Department of Health in Adams County , Colorado , USA . and comply.

    My contact information:

(MOD EDIT) Please do not post personal contact information on Alipac.

I make it a habit to always check the health rating of a restaurant BEFORE eating there. Anything less than a 92, forget it.

Interesting the way she handled this. I would not have sat there for 10 minutes waiting for someone. I would have found the manager immediately and complained and would not have paid anything for the meals. Disgusting! I don't even go to Mexican restaurants anymore. I don't trust them.

It just goes to show that the world does not necessarily think it is important to worry about food safety like we do. In Bulgaria I got a salad with my lunch at some little restaurant with a small dead spider sitting on top. I ate the salad around the spider, inspecting every lettuce leaf. In Turkey at one of those roadside diners, I ordered eggplant (forget the name of the dish) which was swimming in a soupy tomato sauce. As they set down my plate, all of a sudden a little fly crawled out of the sauce and sat on the edge of the plate. I kept eating but worried about the fly.
Also in Antakya (Antioch) Turkey, there were plenty of vendors of some juice (pomegranate maybe) that travelled with a tray of cups and the juice dispenser strapped to their back. Of course they never washed the cups between customers. Also there was a butcher shop with no windows with sides of meat hanging there. When a customer requested a cut, the butcher would wave away the flies before cutting.
While this was in the 1970s, there are portions of the world where that is not unusual. But this is not the third (or developing). I would raise a real stink, including sending the letter to the newspapers. It will make American customers think twice about going there.

Thanks for the thread. I used to eat at the Santiago's on East Colfax in Denver, (now closed) but I won't visit any of their locations any more.
