How many Social Security Numbers are there?
1 BILLION useable combinations
About 450 MILLION have been used so far.
(Numbers aren't reused after a death.)
TOTALS from 1936 through 2008:
49 million in the 30s
46 million in the 40s
37 million in the 50s
56 million in the 60s
76 million in the 70s
72 million in the 80s
62 million in the 90s
51 million in the 00s (so far)
