How Wall Street Helps Fuel The Campaign Horse Race

How Wall Street Helps Fuel The Campaign Horse Race

    By JOHN HARWOOD
    July 27, 2007; Page A4

WALL STREET DOMINATES 2008 presidential giving.

Nine of 10 largest business sources of campaign cash were financial-services workers, says nonpartisan Center for Responsive Politics. Goldman Sachs Group employees led with $930,000 in first six months of 2007; Obama's $310,000 exceeded haul of all Republicans combined.

Most Wall Street givers favored Bush's adversaries, with Citigroup and Lehman Brothers Holdings sending 65% of donations to Democrats. At top firms, only Merrill Lynch and Ernst & Young employees gave most donations to Republicans.

Former trial lawyer Edwards collected $6.5 million from the bar, beating Clinton's $6.2 million and Obama's $5.5 million.

Then the big spenders will call in their due. The greasing of palms is nasty.

This reminds me of the YouTube Dem debate last week. A candidate to the far left, and I'm sorry I forgot his name, got two 'digs' in about how the top candidates were supported by Wall Street and a vote for them was a vote for the status quo.

Just remember that Tancredo and Hunter do not hold hands with corporations and so there funding to run this race is very small. This is where we can help. We just need to know how best to do it. We need to get in touch with there campaign managers to find out those answers.
