Howard Dean Tries To Defend ObamaCare, Says Young People Aren’t Needed

I imagine that most of you reading this blog already know that Howard Dean, former DNC Chairman, is now considered to be one of the top Democratic Presidential contenders for the next election. Hopefully, you also remember just how prone this idiot is to shoot off his mouth and say some of the dumbest things you will ever hear from a politician. One thing is for sure, Dean used to always be good for a quote!
It also now seems like the Democratic party as a whole is trying to do anything they can to stop the public from clearly realizing what a massive disaster the ObamaCare roll out and the plan itself really is. Certainly, the data and the evidence on all this over the past month is indeed quite clear. And now, we even have many Democrats and even news commentators trying to make the argument with a straight face that the problems with ObamaCare are really the fault of the Republicans. Of course, I mean certainly the Democrats, Obama, and the White House had to negotiate and make some compromise in order to get all of those GOP votes that were needed to push this law down our throats, right? Oh, wait a minute, the law passed without a single Republican vote! Nope, not even a lone RINO decided to vote with the Democrats on this one. So, it seems incredibly silly to say that the Democrats changed there original plan for ObamaCare in order to appease the GOP…unless they were exceptionally bad negotiators.
Now we have Mr. Dean entering the ObamaCare fight and debate. As a Democrat, he realizes that his political fate and future is strictly connected to the success or failure of this law, so he would like it to get up and running. Of course, there is no denying many of the facts about how things have been an absolute disaster up to this point.
One of the biggest potential problems in respect to the ObamaCare website and program is the fact that young people are simply not signing up for this insurance. Guess what? Now Dean has decided to make the preposterous argument that it does not matter; young people are not needed in order for ObamaCare to succeed, according to candidate Dean. Oh, and he also argues that the roll out of the online exchanges has not been absolute chaos. Take a look at the video on the linked page…especially focus between the 1 and 8 minute marks.

Even the White House has admitted that they need to have a large number of young millenials join the program in order for it to be financially viable. So, Dean’s argument is basically shooting himself in the foot, going against the standard party line. Of course, this is really nothing new for Dean. Another thing to consider is that if young people were not needed by the program so badly, then why does the HHS have ad campaigns specifically targeting this demographic? Just take a look at the NFL, ‘brosurance,’ and even the Daily Show ads and campaigns pushing all of this.
Young, healthy people must sign up for this plan in order to pay for older and sicker users. Without people to simply pay into the system without taking advantage, or using much of the resources and services (i.e. not getting sick and using very little of the actual care) it simply will not be affordable.
Part of the problem is that this demographic was not even signing up for insurance before. Why not? Because they do not think they need it and they can’t afford it anyway. What has changed? Not much. With ObamaCare, this group still cannot afford insurance, especially after seeing increased premiums. Plus, they still do not see a real need for this type of coverage. On top of all that, can we really expect these young people to stay on a website for hours and hours (given all the ‘glitches’ and working problems) or call an 800 number that is also now experiencing issues and problems in its own right? What is happening is that it is only the older and sicker people who are more desperate to obtain insurance that are fighting through this difficult sign-up process.
What do YOU think? How big of an idiot is Dean for making these arguments? Will ObamaCare eventually collapse on itself due to a lack of younger enrollees? What should be done about ObamaCare?
