Thread: I have a comment to make

There is a banner ads for people to click on on various places throughout this forum that is really distracting. Some are for citizenship and some are for immigration attorneys. One such ad appears here:

I don't know who puts the ads there or why so I hope I'm not stepping on someone's toes here. If I am, I'm willing to listen to whatever it is that makes it necessary for that banner to be on this forum.

Still, because I can't just keep my mouth shut, I'm going to say what's on my mind.

First: why would we want to help people here illegally to apply for citizenship or help them find an attorney? People who are here legally already know all this and should have done it a long time ago!

Second: until this morning, I always stopped scrolling down to read the rest of the posts because I thought I was at the end of the page. It was only because the banner appeared in the middle of a page that I realized that it is sort of stuck in at random and not the end of a page. As a matter of fact, I was rather offended when it appeared after one of my posts as though I'd put it there.

I wonder how many others have been misled because of it?

We gave added some ads in the Discussion Groups area to offset some of the growing cost to managing and storing such a large website.

I have a pop-up blocker on.

Thanks Pat. Now that you mention it, I guess I guess I did see something about ads. I can't say I particularly like the tone of the current ads. Hopefully, someone will offer better ads that make us look less willing to help the illegals. I wonder who in the hell pays to run ads to advertise services that are government related anyway?

Yea, I saw one about apply for citizenship and had a big hook over my head. I wondered why it was in English. By the way, I applied and I was not eligible. I guess, I'm too American to be American.

You don't see the banner ads in between the posts on these boards? Interesting. I don't get pop ups because of my pop up blocker but I get notified that pop ups have been blocked so I don't guess I get them on this site or it would sound like a popcorn machine. LOL.

Dixie, I clicked on that one to apply for citizenship and read the questions. Pretty lame if you ask me. And I HOPE they are going to have to PROVE some of this stuff before they can apply. Jeepers!
