Hen who lived at a McDonalds finally captured

Hen who lived at a McDonald's finally captured
    last updated: June 09, 2008 03:57:17 AM

    TEMECULA, Calif. —
In the end, the elusive chicken that took up residence outside a McDonald's just got too comfortable in its new home.

For four months customers tried unsuccessfully to catch the brown hen using bait or bare hands. Last week, the fast fowl was finally captured after it settled in for the night right on top of the drive-through window box.

A group of employees distracted the bird with bites of hamburger bun and nabbed it.

Restaurant manager Chona Cauley said the chicken's downfall was that it got a little bit too comfortable around the drive-through.

"Normally, the chicken sleeps in the bushes," Cauley said.

The bird won't end up on the menu. It has been sent to live as a pet with other chickens at the home of a restaurant worker.

Since the chicken arrived, customers often found themselves waiting to order their McNuggets while the bird blocked the drive-through lane.

Who knows...it could have been a pet from one of the employees.

It followed her to work one day, work one day, work one day.
It followed her to work one day, which was against the rules.
It made the customers mean and mad, mean and mad, mean and mad.
It made the customers mean and mad to see it sitting on their bag.

Sorry...strange mood today. LOL I read that story and that old tune ran through my mind.

    Funny crazybird!!

Seriously, a good portion of my neighbors now have chickens at their places. Most are still chicks and are let to run loose, I am surprised one of my cats have not brought one home dead yet.

I heard somewhere in Colorado they wanted to make chickens ok in urban areas. They were talking about that here as well. But I also wondered what would happen if dogs and cats got loose and killed the neighbors chickens. Not to mention the spread of bird flu with so may geese and ducks in the area. I like chickens.....I wouldn't mind having a couple for eggs......but after working in a farm and seeing all the various diseases etc. even in a protected environment....I worry about what could happen.

Chickens can carry some really noxious diseases and bacteria.

I have this horrible feeling that soon, my younger cat will be dragging one home. My older cat has slowed down on his hunting this last year. He is six and a whole lot less interested in catching things as he used to be (snakes, voles, mice, packrats, birds, large spiders.......).

The neighbors who own chickens and actually keep up on them, should have them behind a secured area, for their own safety. One of our neighbors have one mature chicken and it's buddy disappeared a while back, I think that a redtailed hawk got it. My husband saw one flying overhead, fairly low and looking down.

Another awful thought. Someone else here has a young pit bull. although she seems to be well trained and friendly dog, still it would be a challenge she could not resist to get loose from her lead and get hold of that chicken.

Truthfully, Fedupinfarmersbranch, no they are not allowed. However, I think that it is actually up to the landlord of this complex as this is considered private property and police and the city will not touch it unless there is a huge problem.
