Is there 1 white man who has any courage?

    Rev. Jesse Lee Peterson

And I sought for a man among them, that should … stand in the gap before me for the land, that I should not destroy it: but I found none.
    – Ezekiel 22:30

Why are white Americans afraid to speak truth to black Americans?

Let me start with a tale of two Michaels:

Michael Richards, the "Seinfeld" co-star who lashed out at a black heckler, repeatedly calling the man a "ni---r," has since made numerous apologies to black Americans.

    (Column continues below)

He apologized on David Letterman's "Late Show" – but that forum wasn't "black enough" – so Richards was forced to grovel on Jesse Jackson's radio show.

The black man Richards insulted has retained Gloria Allred. Next month, he will express his contrition in front of a retired judge who will determine how much money Richards should dole out for hurling the "N" word.

Then there's the Nov. 25 shooting in New York City, where NYPD officers shot Sean Bell, a 23-year-old black man outside a strip club in Queens when he tried to ram an officer with his car. The incident has outraged Rev. Al Sharpton ("the Riot King") and other black leaders.

Sharpton is threatening to lead a massive pre-Christmas march along Manhattan's Fifth Avenue – stating, "We're going shopping for justice this Christmas."

Let's not forget that Sharpton gave us the Tawana Brawley hoax and provoked the Crown Heights riot in the Hasidic (Jewish) section of Brooklyn.

Why should anyone listen to this hypocrite?

After the police shooting, Michael (the other Michael) Bloomberg, the mayor of NYC, met with Sharpton and other black racist agitators and prematurely criticized the deadly shooting, calling it "inexplicable" and "unacceptable." Can you say "cave"?

What has happened to white men in this country?

White men used to be tough. John Wayne, Charlton Heston and Ronald Reagan exemplified a strong male image. But because of the successful attack – by secular progressives like NOW (National Organization of Women who Hate Men), the ACLU, homosexual groups and liberal black leaders – most white males have been emasculated.

Years of scapegoating and charges of racism have intimidated whites to the point that they no longer speak out on issues concerning race and morality.

After Dr. King's assassination in 1968, Jesse Jackson showed up in front of the news cameras holding a bloody sweater. This is all it took for him to be promoted by the elite media as the "heir apparent" to King.

This despite Jackson's repeated falling out with Dr. King's organization, the SCLC (Southern Christian Leadership Conference).

In 1971, Ralph Abernathy, King's successor at SCLC, suspended Jackson for "administrative improprieties and repeated acts of violation of organizational policy." Jackson then left the group and started Operation PUSH.

The mainstream media keep wicked black leaders like Jackson in power. Whenever there's a racial issue in this country Jackson or Sharpton are on the airwaves to "blame whitey."

The media and false black leaders succeeded in changing the allegiance of many black Americans – from a pro-family, pro-God people to a government-dependant people as we witnessed during Katrina.

White people are angry at Jackson and the phony civil-rights leaders who have made a living off of blaming them for the problems of blacks. And they're angry about the double standard when it comes to racial issues – and for not being allowed to openly express their disagreements with blacks.

    But they remain silent.

This has resulted in the phenomenon of white fear – fear of criticizing blacks – no matter how corrupt, immoral or evil the perpetrator.

Since whites are not allowed to express themselves, they either cower down like Michael Bloomberg, or they lash out in anger like Michael Richards. Then Jesse Jackson swoops in and points to the overreaction as evidence of white racism – to exploit the situation for profit.

White Americans need to stand up for truth with strength and patience. If we can find white people with courage, we can change this country – and the tale of two Michaels would have a happy ending.

What is courage? Well, I can tell you what courage is not: 1) Courage is not resenting blacks and complaining to your white friends behind closed doors. 2) It's not tolerating black misconduct, and 3) Courage is not adopting the divisive, politically correct term "African American."

As for black Americans, they need to repudiate their "leaders" and let go of past grievances, lest they self-destruct.

It will take decent whites and blacks to come together to live out the promise of Dr. King's dream. Then, America will finally become the land of the free and the home of the brave!

Richard, I really like Rev. Jesse Peterson, I watch him every time I get a chance, Sean Hannity has him on his show often. I like him not because he agrees with Whites but because he sees the double standard for what it is, and doesn't buy into it. This is one of the Black heros that sould be looked up to instead of Jackson and Sharpton who wants to feed into the all Blacks are victims and keep them down instead of going forward and up!

I also think the illegals know that America esp white Americans now have a race phobia, are so afraid of being seen as racist, so keep their mouths shut instead of speaking up when they are falsely accused of being racist, they use this against this country like a weapon, seems to be working with a lot of citizens, no longer holds any threat for me, I refuse to buy into it!

Speaking for MYSELF, I say that Michael Richards may have gone over the top, but it was the rudeness of the blacks in question, who not only were verbally attacking Richards but also spoiling the show for other paying customers, who should be making public apologies as well.

Black men can get away with using the word Richards was excoriated for until the cows come home, but it doesn't stop there. They can call white folks crackers without repercussion, call Orientals gooks or just about anything else, and generally behave as boorish jackasses in public without repercussion.

You want MY definition of being racially offensive? Tune in to just about any "gangsta" rap and listen to the black racist calls for the murder of police officers or white people or the deplorable speech directed at women. Tune in the rhetoric of so-called Black Muslims who hold that white men evolved from baboons. Look at every pandering, race-baiting dirtbag passing himself off as a minister and listen to the divisive extortionist effluent that flows in a neverending stream from his mouth, whether it's Jesse Jackson and his legalized extortion, Al Sharpton and his violent rabble-rousing and blatant lies in self service to his quest for bigger and better bling, or Terry Hornbuckle raping the women of the flock while he pillages.

I for one am sick and tired of this Orwellian one-way definition of racism. Some black activists go so far as to claim that it is impossible for a black person in America to be racist because the blacks are a minority. Hey, idiot, white men are a minority too. What these racist bastards are really saying is that they have a chip on their shoulder and that as long as the white folks grant some currency to a marker that has been paid many times over they will continue to extort every advantage and dime that they can. They will use it as an excuse for their own lawlessness, incivility, and ignorance. They will use it to excuse the laziness that does not take advantage of free education and endless grants and privileges extended to their community to allow them pull themselves from the ignorance of self-imposed poverty and the self-perpetuating cycle of welfare dependence. I am not speaking of all black people, obviously. I am speaking of that noisy segment of the population that eschews personal resposibility and worships at the altar of perpetual victimhood and racial hatred. They know who they are, and they can shove their sanctimony right up their lazy and worthless arses as far as I am concerned. This is America, the most charitable and free land in the world. It is the land of opportunity for EVERYONE, and when entire segments of the population can't make a go of it, it's because they aren't trying, or are REFUSING to do the things (like learning to speak proper English or getting an education beyond the functional eighth grade level) that will grant them access to the milk and honey. It's not the white man's fault if a kid abandons the classroom or foregoes algebra so that he can spend more time playing hoops in hopes of being one of a tiny percentage who goes on to get paid obscene money for what amounts to nothing more than a diversion and contributes little if anything to the betterment of society.

If you're looking for someone who will call a spade a spade, you're probably just looking in the wrong part of the country or among the wrong segment of the populace.

Yeowwwwww, chiwawaaaaaaawa, Crockett, I give you a standing ovation

What really yanked my chain in this whole mess, was the fact those 2 men in that comedy club, who were goading and heckling until they got the response they were wanting ran right out and hired Gloria Allred, trying to extort money from Richard, as if that would suddenly make every thing ok, how low can one sink bofore one drowns? Is pride a thing of the past now?

I am not saying that what Richard said was in any way right, I am saying, shouldn't the gentlemen in question be held accountable for their own racial slurs in return? Na, I guess that would be just to much to ask right?

Crocket, if you are a white man, I guess they found you. That certainly was courageous.

Bill Cosby has been trying to speak to the black youth for quite some time now, and has been criticized. He wants the kids to grow up, get a good education and be responsible for themselves. I think that there alot of mixed messages in the black community. Gangsters are being glorified, and even Oprah Winfrey makes outlandish comments on occasion. She said that she did not like it when white people try to sound black. Does that mean that she shouldn't sound white? Personally, I don't get it when black people break out of their everyday voice and "talk black", if that is the way that they talk, then they should talk that way all of the time. Many black people use the "N" word amongst themselves. That is just wrong. Then, the black population that is responsible for themselves gets condemned for being too white, and if they are light skinned, oftentimes, they get treated poorly by other black people. I think misery loves company, and some people are more comfortable being the victim.

Yeah, I'm a white guy. I know a lot of black people, though, including a lot of famous ones. I tell them the same thing that you see me saying here. I have had some hilarious (or sad, depending on your perspective) exchanges with guys like M.C. Hammer and Snoop Dawg over the years, but I always left with their respect. And while I agree with many things that Mr. Cosby has had to say, I happen to know that he is as racist and arrogant as anyone I have ever met.

BTW - Here's the sort of behavior that disgusts me:

In what way? It is a shame. You see guys like Snoop getting arrested time and time again on a weapons or drug charge. He seems so likeable and he seems to be comfortable monetarily, why does he continue to do the things that he has done? Or how about Tupac? Successful and dead over what? Some stupid gang rivalry? I used to love Mc Hammer...I've gotta ask...did you ever see the MC Hammer pants in person? Can't touch this...

    Every time you see me
    The Hammer's just so hype
I'm dope on the floor and I'm magic on the mic
Now why would I ever stop doing this?
With others making records that just don't hit
I've toured around the world, from London to the Bay
It's "Hammer, go Hammer, MC Hammer, yo Hammer"
And the rest can go and play
    You can't touch this
