Indoctrination Alert! Protect your kids on Sept. 8th

Indoctrination Alert! Protect your kids on Sept. 8th

This Tuesday Sept. 8th President Obama is planning to address the nation's school children DIRECTLY, through a live internet broadcast at 12 noon. If you do not want Obama to have access to your children to say whatever he wants to them during their school hours without you being there, there are a few things you can do:

-Call the school's principal to find out whether the school was planning to show the speech, and if they are, let the principal know that you feel the role of the school is to educate, not to indoctrinate, and that you do not consent to have your child spoken to directly by any politician or government official, for any reason. Maybe if enough parents call, the school will not show the speech to students.

-If the school is going ahead with plans to show the speech, you can keep your child out of school that day.

-You can write up a consent form that would allow a parent of your choice, in your community, to remove your child (and all other children whose parents consent to it) from the area where the speech is being broadcast, and for that period of time, engage the children in some alternate educational activity, such as reading the text of the Constitution, for example.

Here is the government website, with details of the event:
    http://www.ed.gov/index.jhtml

and a letter from Education Secretary Arne Duncan to School Principals, encouraging them to broadcast the speech, and to accompany it with other activities promoting the same agenda:
    http://www.ed.gov/admins/lead/academic/bts.html
[Check out the suggested activities that are meant to accompany the speech-- I think the intention is for schools to make this a day-long event in honor of the President]

The ostensible message that students should work hard to educate themselves may seem relatively benign, but the insidious subtext is that you should work hard not for yourself and your own individual happiness, but for the country, society, the state-- to make America more competitive in the world, to raise standards of living (through redistribution, presumably) for all Americans, etc... I personally don't want my children to grow up believing that they exist to serve the state, that it is somehow normal to think this way.

But fundamentally, it doesn't really matter what it is that Obama is planning to tell American children on Tuesday. What does matter is that it is totally inappropriate for him to be addressing children directly at a time when they are away from their parents, and a captive audience in their classrooms. State indoctrination of children is a hallmark of totalitarian government. Don't let it happen here.

seems alot of the schools in the houston and dallas area
are leaving it up to the principals to decide.

they want to keep the kids in class because for everyone out of class they loose some federal funding for that day

The Grand Prairie (TX) Independent School District applauds the President’s efforts to emphasize the importance of education. The District has decided, however, not to disrupt the instructional day to broadcast the Presidential address live on Tuesday, September 8. The District will make the President’s address available on the District web site to be used as an instructional tool by educators and parents as appropriate.

    Arlington, Texas-
    President Obama's Address

President Obama will address schoolchildren on Tuesday, September 8. That day will be a regularly scheduled instruction day in the Arlington ISD. The district will make the speech available in the future as an instructional resource as deemed appropriate to the district's curriculum. Students and parents will also be able to access the speech through a link on the district's Web site.

    THE PRESIDENT'S BACK-TO-SCHOOL MESSAGE TO AMERICA'S STUDENTS

    THE PRESIDENT'S BACK-TO-SCHOOL MESSAGE TO AMERICA'S STUDENTS

Help get America’s students engaged! On Tuesday, September 8 — the first day of school for many students — the President will talk directly to students across the country on the importance of taking responsibility for their education, challenging them to set goals and do everything they can to succeed. We want to make sure that as many schools and classrooms nationwide can participate in this special opportunity, so we are making the President’s address and all the information that comes with it available as widely as possible. Whether you are a teacher, a school board member, or a member of the media, find information below to help you watch and be engaged with the President in welcoming our students back to school.

Called my school district and demanded an opt-out for my kids, seems they got a ton of such calls, this was posted on their site:

**SD Information Regarding President Obama's National Address to Students

On Tuesday, September 8th, President Obama will deliver a national address to school children. The ******* School District has received numerous calls asking whether or not students will watch the address during class and, if so, can their child be exempted from the webcast. As September 8th is the first day of school for **SD, it is impossible to notify all parents of the webcast and for our staff to develop a viable and consistent exemption process.

Prior parent permission is critical because of the national debate that is occurring and because we have heard from so many parents who do not want their child to have access to the speech.

Consequently, we will not be broadcasting the address on Tuesday, but it will be available at a later date as an educational resource, but only after proper notification to parents.

The school my daughter goes to sent home a letter about this. The students of the objecting parents have an option of doing other things while the speech is going on. I WAS going to object to this, but my girl needs to know what is really going on, just like when I sent her to a "christian" pre-k.

If she asks about why all the kids weren't there, I will just have to tell her the truth, instead of the lies and BS that most of us are raised to believe without ever questioning it.

"Daddy, why weren't the other kids in my class there to watch the president?"

"Well sweetie, there are many reasons. Some people don't like the president only because he is a democrat. Some people don't like him because he is a different skin color than most people. People like myself don't agree with a few of the things he is trying to do. You see sweetie, there are many people that because they are a republican, they want America to fail so they can prove a point(Limbaugh). There are things in this country that really need to be fixed, like health care. I would be able to give you proper affordable healthcare, but there are too many people that believe lies and propaganda over facts, which makes it virtually impossible for you to get better when you are sick. These are the same people that are retired, and already have socialized health care so they really don't care about the rest of us. I am sorry these people feel this way, even though what you were taught in church was "Love thy neighbor." These people tend to pick and chose what they want to believe, while leaving out the Ten Commandments like "love thy neighbor." They REALLY don't care about their neighbor, which is why these people don't want you to have health care. They would rather you suffer, while they argue about socialism. I am really sorry sweetie, I really wish I could change things for you, but there are way too many people that are stuck in the Dark Ages mentality to actually progress and give you a future you can handle. Perhaps as soon as this generation dies you can do something."

    So sad, but so true.

Hold it right there....Rush never stated he wants America to fail-he stated he hopes Obama's policies fail. I interpret that to mean that if Obama's policies fail, America wins.

I'm not a huge Rush fan myself, but I do think most of what he says makes sense....
