Iran is not afraid of threats of war from the United States, and in fact is ready to take on any threat, a top Iranian military official said.

"We welcome war with the U.S. as we do believe that it will be the scene for our success to display the real potentials of our power," Brig. General Hossein Salami said in an interview on state-run Iranian television on Wednesday.

Salami, lieutenant commander of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC), made the comments following a meeting between Secretary of State John Kerry and Israeli officials to discuss the Iranian threat, the semi-official Fars News Agency reported.

The Obama administration has stated that military action is not off the table if Iran refuses to sign an acceptable nuclear agreement this summer.

Salami dismissed successful American military action against other countries, saying they had "rotten" armies. He called on other Muslim countries to unite against the United States if Iran is attacked.

He also warned any pilots who might take part in bombing missions against Iraq.

"We warn their pilots that their first flight [to target Iran] will be their last one and no one will be allowed to go back safe and sound, and they should call their flights as their last flight," Salami said.

He vowed Iran would burn any base from which planes left to bomb Iran.
