isis terrorists Infiltrate Canada - Drone our Border NOW

How do you like your muslim immigrants and refugees now trudeau? Following EU's protocol of letting them back in after they went to fight for isis. At least Canada is publishing the numbers and bear in mind the population of Canada is miniscule compared to US. Would be nice to see our gov't issue a warning and move to protect our northern border pronto.

ISIS Terrorists Infiltrating Canada, Suspected of Plotting Attacks

The Canadian government is warning its citizens that it knows of at least 180 people who have traveled abroad to join terror groups and is tracking another 60 “extremist travelers who had returned to Canada,” according to a new government report that provides further evidence of the Islamic State’s migration to North America.

Terrorists returning to Canada after fighting abroad in hotspots such as Syria “raise serious security concerns,” says the report, which warns that “a violent act of terrorism could occur in Canada.”

Canadian authorities, like those in the United States, have continued to monitor a number of Western individuals who have traveled abroad to join terror groups. A number of these individuals have made their way back to North America, raising concerns that ISIS and its affiliates are planning attacks on the continent.

Canada’s finding is similar to warnings by some current and former U.S. officials, who have said that ISIS affiliates are already living in America and other Western countries.

“Since the beginning of the Syrian conflict in 2011, more than 36,500 extremist travelers from over 100 countries, including at least 6,600 individuals from Western countries, have travelled to Syria,” according to the Canadian government.

A handful have made their way back to North America, where they pose a significant terror threat.

“Returning extremist travelers may also raise serious security concerns for their home countries,” according to the report, which notes that some of these terrorists have been tied to Iran, the world’s foremost state sponsor of terrorism.

Through the end of 2015, the Canadian government “was aware of approximately 180 individuals with a nexus to Canada who were abroad and who were suspected of engaging in terrorism-related activities.”

Authorities are aware of “about 60 extremist travelers who had returned to Canada,” the report discloses. “The experiences and intentions of these individuals vary. They may have skills, experience and relationships developed abroad that could be used to recruit or inspire individuals in Canada.”

Individuals who have returned also could “engage in terrorist financing, helping others to travel, or even planning attacks in Canada,”

according to the report. “The attacks directed by Daesh in Paris and Brussels provide examples. Most of the attackers were returnees linked to Daesh.”

Like the United States and other Western countries, Canada is primarily concerned about those ISIS-tied terrorists who might commit an attack on their soil.

“The principal terrorist threat to Canada remains that posed by violent extremists who could be inspired to carry out an attack in Canada,” the report states. “Violent extremist ideologies espoused by terrorist groups like Daesh and al-Qaida continue to appeal to certain individuals in Canada.”

The Canadian government has charged more than 40 individuals with terrorism-related offenses since 2002. Sixteen people have been charged with terrorism-related offenses since January 2015.

One of those individuals was found to have had contact with terrorists in Iran.

This individual, who was arrested in 2010 by authorities, was planning to detonate an explosive device, according to the report.

After first leaving Canada, the person “swore an oath of loyalty to al-Qaida and the Taliban and returned to Canada with the expertise and intent to train, finance and equip a terrorist cell in Ottawa,” according to the report. “He also maintained contact with terrorists in Iran and Afghanistan while working to recruit other men and raise money to finance a proposed attack.”

It remains unclear how many ISIS-tied individuals are estimated to be in the United States, as the Obama administration has yet to publicly release numbers like its Canadian counterpart.

Unmanned drones to patrol state-Canada border

Drones from Grand Forks Air Force Base will track drug smugglers and potential terrorists.

By BOB VON STERNBERG, Star Tribune
    Last update: February 15, 2009 - 8:02 PM

After a couple of false starts, Predator unmanned drone aircraft are scheduled to start roaming the Canadian border this week.

State and federal officials will hold a ribbon-cutting ceremony today at Grand Forks Air Force Base, where the first Predator arrived in early December.

That ceremonial milestone had to be delayed twice because of a maintenance problem and turbulent weather.

The Predators, unarmed versions of the aircraft being used in the Afghanistan and Iraq wars, have been patrolling the Mexican border since 2005.

The Grand Forks, N.D., base is one of five outposts along the northern border where the aircraft will be based.

Equipped with radar and optical sensors, the Predators are capable of flying up to 260 miles per hour at altitudes up to 50,000 feet for more than 18 hours.

The drones are operated by U.S. Customs and Border Protection. They transmit their images and data to operators who can alert border agents on the ground.

Operators of the border agency's fully loaded, $10.5 million Predators use the drones' radar imaging and infrared capabilities to "light" a target at night with a laser visible only through the night-vision goggles of helicopter crews who intercept some of the people crossing the Mexican border.

From October 2006 through a year ago, the drones had helped in the apprehension of 3,857 illegal immigrants and the seizure of more than nine tons of marijuana, according to the most recent statistics available.

Currently border agents arrest about 4,000 people who illegally come into the United States a year from Canada and seize about 40,000 pounds of illegal drugs.

Landing the Predators was a coup for the Grand Forks base, which is slated to lose its fleet of KC-135 tankers in the next few years. Air Force officials say they hope as many as 20 drones eventually will be based there.

Since'09 ...hmmm....Certainly haven't done any good on the southern border.... if the gov't has even bothered to use them - maybe the article looks good in the press.

terrorists, drugs crossing into USA from any direction = no good.

Senate told drones now patrolling U.S.-Canada border

    The Associated Press
    Published Saturday, April 28, 2012 10:30PM EDT

SEATTLE - The U.S. government's unmanned drones patrolling the U.S.-Canadian border are venturing into Washington state's airspace.

In testimony before a U.S. Senate panel this week, Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano said northern border surveillance using unmanned aerial aircraft now expands from North Dakota to eastern Washington.

The two 10,000-pound Predator-B unmanned aircrafts based in Grand Forks, N.D., have a 950-mile coverage range and "they do enter Washington airspace, in the vicinity of Spokane," said Customs and Border Protection spokeswoman Gina Gray on Thursday.

The unmanned aircrafts "can stay in the air for up to 20 hours at a time, something no other aircraft in the federal inventory can do," Gray said. "In this manner it is a force multiplier, providing aerial surveillance support for border agents by investigating sensor activity in remote areas to distinguish between real or perceived threats, allowing the boots on the ground force to best allocate their resources and efforts."

    Since 2005,
the Department of Homeland Security has deployed a handful of drones around the country, with some based in Arizona, Florida, North Dakota, and Texas -- with more planned for the future. Operations out of North Dakota first began in 2011.

The drones help both patrol and aid during natural disasters. For example, Gray said the Predators have mapped the flooded Red River Valley in the areas of North Dakota and Minnesota. The drones are equipped with cameras that can provide aerial pictures of disaster areas.

The drones also can be loaned to local agencies in cases of emergencies. In fiscal year 2011, CBP's drones contributed to the seizure of 7,600 pounds of narcotics and 75 arrests, Gray added.

The use of drones has proliferated among federal and local law enforcement agencies nationwide
along with civilian hobbyists in recent years.

In December, Congress gave the Federal Aviation Administration six months to pick half a dozen sites around the country where the military and others can fly unmanned aircraft in the vicinity of regular air traffic, with the aim of demonstrating they're safe.

But concerns remain, including privacy and the government worries they could collide with passenger planes or come crashing down to the ground, concerns that have slowed more widespread adoption of the technology.

A recent American Civil Liberties Union report said allowing drones greater access takes the country "a large step closer to a surveillance society in which our every move is monitored, tracked, recorded, and scrutinized by the authorities."

Kendle Allen, sheriff of remote Stevens County, said his agency has not asked for drone assistance.

"There is always mixed feelings about something flying above you," Allen said.

But he said in Stevens County's rugged mountainous terrain, aerial patrol can be useful in case of emergencies. His office has used U.S. Border Patrol helicopters in the past to search for people missing in the woods.

northern border surveillance using unmanned aerial aircraft now expands from North Dakota to eastern Washington.
There are many points to cross undetected on the east end of that border, With Canada's cities Toronto, Montreal a mecca for eastern arrivals to Canada and it only being winter 3 mths a yr now instead of 6mths, crossing will increase. They are taking in a lot of muslims - properly vetted? - doubt it. And now flights from mexico too.
