There was no comment from the White House today regarding a book that delves into the issue of whether President Thomas Jefferson had children by a slave girl.
In fact, the question was left unasked because Press Secretary Robert Gibbs did not allow Les Kinsolving, WND's correspondent at the White House and the third-most senior reporter on the executive beat, an opportunity at today's briefing.
In fact, 47 of the 64 reporters present were not allowed an opportunity to ask a question.
As the first White House correspondent to raise the issue of the president's birth certificate and eligibility dispute at the daily briefings, Kinsolving is prepared to tackle controversial subjects.
Today was no different: He came prepared to ask about a new St. Martins Press book by attorney Robert Hyland.
"In July a new book published by St. Martins Press, written by attorney Robert Hyland, is entitled, 'In Defense of Thomas Jefferson," Kinsolving's question stated.
"Question. Does the president believe that his presidential predecessor was a child molester of Sally Hemmings?" he wanted to ask.
There have been a multitude of allegations regarding Jefferson and his relationship with Hemmings.
For the second briefing in a row, Kinsolving, however, was shut out of the questioning.
He had prepared a followup to the question, too.
He said he would have asked about a quote in the book from Rev. Jeremiah Wright, the pastor under whom Obama attended services for decades in Illinois, and who during the presidential campaign last year was revealed to have denounced America with the statement, "God d--- America."
That quote from Wright, according to Kinsolving, is "Jefferson had intelligence, but he also had babies by a 15-year-old slave girl. I think the judges call that pedophilia."
Kinsolving said the book contains a well-assembled refutation of the smear against Jefferson.

Disturbing as it may be to learn, during the 18th Century incest commited by older males was quite common and accepted even among wealthy families. While this certainly does not make the use of young slave women for this purpose right, it was said also of Caucasian young women of that era that many "remained virgins only so long as they could outrun their older uncles".
