It amazes me Americans never seem to get very upset about job losses.
To be sure, the stock market is up. The price of these stocks is especially up.

Today, Hershey - HSY is $52.48, up $1.18.

The remaining workers will be more productive and may even see a small raise. The admin. will spin these jobs losses as due to technology and not out sourcing to Mexico. The CEO will be richly rewarded and stock traders will make a few bucks. We forget these gains fall on the backs of the people that lose their job.

So, it's a GOOD day on Wall St., but a sad day on Main St., in Hershey, PA.

The President and other politicians will tell us the economy is doing well, the stock market is up. For the Americans that lose their job, their life may drastically change for the worse. They may find a new job, but it will pay less, have no pension or health care. This is why the middle class feels "under attack", they are.

Why do we permit our politicians to out source American jobs. The govt. should stay neutral. There's enough market forces driving this without govt. support. I would prefer the govt. use it's powers of taxation and legislation to encourage companies to employ more Americans.

If we keep sending all the jobs to Mexico the only thing that will bring the criminal aliens to America are the welfare benefits we hand out for having more children that you can afford.

this is the path to becoming a third world nation, lose of the middle class. one big difference between a industrial nation and a third world nation is its middle class. both have the very rich and very poor, but the industrial first world nation has a big strong healthy middle class. unfortunately greed from many directions (government & big business) is causing the errosion of Americas middle class.

I too am disheartened and surprised when I see many "conservatives" or really anybody for that matter tout "free markets" about job losses or certain other company policies. As if free markets are God and work in a vacuum. The mantra seems to be companies can do whatever they please as long as it is done in the name of "free markets." Capitalism don't you know? However there really is nothing free about them particularly in regards to international and global markets. Businesses should always strive to be efficient and of course make money but not at any or all cost. Certainly having the world under one roof and us global citizens dutifully doing our duty as consumers and allowing "international" companies easy access and no barriers world wide would be the ultimate in efficiency and the ultimate in dollar extraction or profit yet at what price? Do companies not owe anything to the countries and people who help them to thrive and really exist in the first place? Some would lead people to believe that we MUST do these thing or we can't compete even survive. We do not need to be the NAU or the world to have profitable companies and a vibrant economy. I'm not saying we need for government to "get in the way" or throw unnecessary barriers up to hobble business but if your business does not have an interest in America maintaining it's standard of living and in particular our sovereignty then as far as I am concerned they can eat s**t and die.
