LOS ANGELES — A Los Angeles judge has ordered 60 pounds of pot returned to a man after his attorneys successfully argued that he had the legal right to transport it.
Superior Court Judge William Sterling on Friday ordered the marijuana returned to Saguro Doven.
According to court records, a California Highway Patrol officer arrested Doven after discovering the marijuana during a traffic stop.
Doven initially was charged with possession of marijuana for sale and transportation of the drug.
Doven's attorney argued that his client was a member of a Venice-based medical marijuana collective and was authorized to transport the pot. The attorney also argued that the prosecution's expert witness was unqualified.
Sterling agreed and ordered the pot returned. The charges were dropped.
