The phenomenon of "temporary marriage" is found in Shia Islam but not among the majority Sunnis. This is no joke, they provide for this so as to "take care" of men who are away from their usual mode of living, such as students at a university. And the ages of the girls are not unusual. One of Muhammad's wives is claimed to have been as young as 9 when her marriage was consummated. Other scholars claim this is in error, but she would still have been very near puberty at the time.
