Kerry do not need to apologize.

Kerry do not need to apologize.

Those who think john Kerry should apologize for saying if you are not educated you are most likely to end up in Iraq need to read The Vietnam Reader, by Walter Capp.
The majority of those drafted and killed in Vietnam were the poor, uneducated minority and “hillbillies.” there are inserts in the book by John Kerry. But what interest me most were the testimonies by Black, Native Americans and Chicanos. They were the poor, uneducated and had no hope of going to the best colleges and the last resort was for them to enlist after high school and many before they finished high school. Those who could afford to go to college were eligible for deferments and did not go war and those educated did not go into combat but were in other services.
The book consist totally of testimonies. Chapter 3 “Diversities of Experience.” show those most likely to be drafted were mostly poor, uneducated and minority. These expected to get an education in the army and take advantage of the G.I. Bill upon being released from services. The benefits was thought to out weigh the sacrifices. They had no choice when the were drafted or to enlisted. The book show that these were the ones that suffered the most casualties, had the most problems when the came home as far as racism.
Those who feel Kerry should apologize are either too young to know anything about the Vietnam war or old and ignorant to what that war was all about. And the war in Iraq. Bush is one that was never in combat because his father could afford to keep him out and he is ignorant to what war is about.
Kerry, for all the poor, uneducated majorities plus “hillbillies” ( quote the book) who where drafted or enlisted, fought and died in the Vietnam war and in the present war in Iraq, etc..Please do not apologize. My brothers, who could not afford college, was from the Vietnam war and they fought it and came home and had to fight also as many of the minorities did for their civil rights that they fought for those in Vietnam .

Kerry, please do not apologize and take away from who they were and from their sacrifices. The poor are the ones who made the biggest sacrifices in Vietnam and in Iraq.
