The victim, a member of the Drug Enforcement Agency, is in critical condition in a local hospital with severe injuries, an agency spokesman said.

A New Orleans crime scene technician carries evidence bags from 1334-36 Frenchmen Street following the execution of a search warrant related to the severe beating early Thursday morning of a DEA agent.
He was attending a national DEA conference and was out in the city Wednesday night following a day of conference sessions, said Patrick Warner, acting special-agent-in-charge of the local DEA bureau.
Warner declined to disclose the man's identity or hometown.
The man was found lying on the ground at about 1:20 a.m. near the Elysian Fields overpass, Warner said.
A large contingent of FBI and DEA agents, along with more than 10 members of the NOPDs Homicide Unit, executed a search warrant Thursday afternoon on a house in the 1300 block of Frenchmen Street in the 7th Ward.
Investigators and crime scene technicians snapped photographs and pulled evidence from the double shotgun house.
The NOPD is handling the investigation. The federal agencies are assisting. Details on a possible motive or information on a suspect was not released.
A NOPD spokesman did not return calls for comment Thursday afternoon, but issued a press release Thursday evening. An FBI spokesman referred inquiries to the NOPD.

Give them some time and keep in mind they have a hurricane headed their way.

It's New Orleans, that city is known for its violent crimes. The DEA Agent may have been a random victim beaten by some local thugs.
