As temperatures across the country soar and unseasonably warm days continue, the number of gun deaths across the country has gone up. Nearly 8,000 gun shootings can be attributed to extreme temperatures, according to research published by JAMA Network. ... Warmer temperatures increase the body’s stress hormones in the nervous system, which may heighten violent impulses. With daily temperatures expected to continue rising in the coming years, the number of injuries and fatalities from shootings could worsen, too. ... The number of shootings tended to be higher in the summer, and 2020 experienced a spike in shootings compared with previous years ...The estimated association between temperature and shootings increased almost monotonically across the temperature range, with a local peak at the 84th percentile of the temperature range with a relative risk of 1.17 (95% CI, 1.12-1.21) compared with the median. ... Because climate change may shift weather patterns, changes may lead to increase both an increase in overall temperature and frequency of extreme temperatures. ... These efforts must not ignore the structural context in which communities of color, particularly Black and Indigenous communities, experience disproportionate exposure to urban heat and other effects of climate change. ... So what this is doing is its creating a template, a narrative among that 40% — and here's the key, this is the part that kills us, Ezra. Deranged Politico: ‘Block the Sun, Save the Planet?’Climate Depot founder Marc Morano ripped Politico’s climate propaganda apart in comments to MRC Business. “Be afraid. Pete Buttigieg from day one they thought this was a climate change train derailment, they would have got FEMA money, they would have got visits from Biden, and Mayor Pete would have been there the first day. As a result, those stoves would not be eligible for purchase. Still, Energy Department spokesman Jeremy Ortiz dismissed concerns over the proposal, saying half the gas stove market "would remain if this standard is finalized as proposed." The Energy Department's admission comes roughly one month after U.S. Consumer Product Safety commissioner Richard Trumka Jr., a Biden appointee, said a gas stove ban was "on the table." "This is a hidden hazard," Trumka Jr. said of gas cooking. "Any option is on the table. Products that can't be made safe can be banned."
After Trumka's comments prompted a political firestorm, both the Consumer Product Safety Commission and the White House walked back the threat, with Biden press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre assuring Americans "the president does not support banning gas stoves." The Energy Department's new rule and subsequent analysis, however, contradict that walkback, and the home appliance industry is responding with fierce pushback.

Sharon Bragg of Clifton Park, New York, has to charge her Ford Mustang Mach-E GT more frequently in the winter months. The GT's EPA rating is 270 miles on a full charge. Bragg said it's closer to 200 in the colder weather. Last December a Level 2 charging plug got stuck in her Mach-E and would not budge. After multiple failed attempts by bystanders, she called an electrician, who blew hot air on the plug for 20 minutes to release it. "The whole process took two hours," she told ABC News. "I was in the parking lot from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. It was a cold day." ... Bragg said her parents, who also bought a Mach-E, have complained of broken public chargers and endless lines. Sometimes they drive for miles before they can find a public charger that's working properly, she said.

British publication The Times ran one of the nuttiest bits of climate change babble in a Feb. 20 story headlined: “How to fix global warming? Bring back rationing, say scientists.” The first sentence of the piece dripped with brain-melting nonsense: “Second World War-style rationing of petrol, household energy and meat could help to fight climate change, British scientists have recommended.”
The newspaper cited “researchers” – whom it does not name until the end of the article – from the University of Leeds who published climate propaganda disguised as analysis in the journal Ethics, Policy & Environment. The Times quoted the study, which also suggested giving citizens a “carbon allowance" and creating a “scarcity of fossil fuels.” ...
Of course, what The Times was selling was massive government intervention. “The researchers argue that, as a first step, governments would need to regulate sectors such as the oil industry, with the importing of fossil fuels ‘banned or restricted’ in certain areas.” In effect, said The Times, “[t]his would create a scarcity of fossil fuels, with rationing then introduced to ‘manage the scarcity’, they explain.”
