Suspect and answers sought in Louisville's latest murder

Patrick Henry Road murder: Maureen Kyle reports
(LOUISVILLE) -- Louisville Metro Police are searching for a suspect in the city's latest homicide. One man was killed and another was wounded and recovering at University Hospital after that shooting at the Yorktown Apartments. WAVE 3's Maureen Kyle investigates.
On Saturday morning, men carrying baskets of laundry, coats and anything they can grab quickly are moving out of the Yorktown Apartments off National Turnpike. It's possible they are taking with them knowledge about Louisville 4th murder of 2007 and crime scene they are leaving behind.
Just after Midnight Saturday, police came to an apartment building in Yorktown on Patrick Henry Road responding to a reported shooting.
When they got inside, they found four or five men -- two of whom were shot -- one of them dead. Lucindo Fergoa lives down the street and knows the man being treated at University Hospital for a gunshot wound.
Fergoa tells WAVE 3 News the wounded man was shot in the shoulder and is doing ok right now. He says that his friend, who worked at a Dixie Highway restaurant, moved to Louisville two years ago from Mexico and had lived in the apartment for the past three months.
The men WAVE 3 spoke with say they have no idea who broke into the apartment and who is responsible for the shooting. Police say they have no idea either.
"Hopefully, we'll be able to get back with you on any type of suspect identification, description, that type of thing," said LMPD spokeperson Alicia Smiley.
But police do suspect the witnesses aren't telling them everything.
"We believe perhaps that the entry was voluntary and we believe that the men inside the apartment opened the door for him. But exactly what happened after that is what we're trying to determine," Smiley said.
As police try to figure it out, those who live in the building are trying to forget. And just hours after the shooting, trying to move on.
The victim has been identified by the Jefferson County Coroner's Offie as 25 year old Gerardo Morales. Morales, who was originally from Mexico but lived in the apartment where the shooting happened, died at the scene of multiple gunshot wounds.
Metro police say the suspect likely fled on foot because there is no vehicle description. If you have any information, you are asked to call the Crime Tipline at 574-LMPD (5673).

Teen arrested, brother sought in 2 slayings at apartment
The Courier-Journal
A teenager has been arrested and charged with murder in the Jan. 12 deaths of two men and the assault of a third at the Jefferson Square Apartments.
Police are searching for the teen's older brother.
Jesus Francisco Solis, 18, was arrested Monday night after a routine traffic stop. Charges against him include two counts of murder, one count of first-degree assault, three counts of robbery, one count of kidnapping and one count of trafficking in marijuana, said Officer Dwight Mitchell, a Louisville Metro Police spokesman.
Solis' brother, Antonio Marco Solis-Lopez, 30, was indicted Jan. 16 in the same case and charged with two counts of murder and one count of first-degree assault.
On Jan. 12, Isaias Perez Gallegos, 50, was shot to death and Isaac Vidaurri Perez, 28, was beaten to death. Their bodies were found in the apartments, in the 5400 block of Outer Loop, which is where Solis-Lopez lived, police said.
The third person, who was shot in the head, has been released from the hospital, Mitchell said. Police have not identified him.
Anyone with information on the elder Solis-Lopez is asked to call the anonymous police tip line, 574-LMPD.
Still no word from newspaper or police dept. community relations about immigration status. Not surprising since they can't even IDENTIFY the victim.Unemployment is not working.
