BOSTON MARATHON EXPLOSIONS ALREADY BEING BLAMED ON THE RIGHT

BOSTON MARATHON EXPLOSIONS ALREADY BEING BLAMED ON THE RIGHT

Before any information was available that might indicate who is responsible for the horrific Boston Marathon bombings, Esquire’s Charles P. Pierce cautioned readers against “jumping to conclusions” and blaming the attack on “foreign terrorism.”

However, he was compelled to remind people that Monday is the “official Patriots Day holiday” in Massachusetts, celebrating the Battles at Lexington and Concord. He also pointed out that April 19, the actual date of the battles, is connected to Oklahoma City bomber Tim McVeigh, who apparently considered himself a “waterer of the tree of liberty and the like,” according to Pierce.

“I’ll bet good money it’s a right-wing nutjob. Today is April 15, Boston Harbor was where the original Tea Party took place and the on-going gun-safety legislation makes it the mostly likely culprit,” commenter Linda Ginsburg wrote.

Other commenters replied by calling Ginsburg an “idiot” and “disgusting.”

TheBlaze cautions readers from blaming ANY group or individual until more information is known.

Additionally, CNN’s Peter Bergen said “first reports are often erroneous” but added he would be looking into what type of bomb was used to determine who might be behind the suspected attack

“If it was hydrogen peroxide, this is sort of a signature of al-Qaeda. If it was more conventional explosives, which are much harder to get a hold of now, that might be another kind of right-wing extremism,” he said.

While Bergen does suggest that radical Islamic terrorism could be behind the attack, he singles out “right-wing extremism” as a possibility without speculating that left-wing extremist groups like Occupy Wall Street could be behind the explosions. He does not, however, explicitly blame “right-wing extremism.”

Huffington Post blogger and Al Sharpton’s radio producer Nida Khan also speculated that “all these anti-gov groups” could be behind the explosions.

“We don’t know anything yet of course, but it is tax day & my first thought was all these anti-gov groups, but who knows,” Khan tweeted.

New York Times columnist Nicholas Kristof used the Boston Marathon explosions to take a shot at Republican lawmakers.

“explosion is a reminder that ATF needs a director. Shame on Senate Republicans for blocking apptment,” he tweeted.

He quickly backtracked and deleted his tweet after people criticized him for the ridiculous connection. “People jumping on me for criticizing Sen Repubs for blocking ATF appointments. ok, that was low blow. i take it back,” he tweeted.

CNN ANALYST: 'RIGHT-WING EXTREMISTS' COULD BE BEHIND BOSTON MARATHON BOMBING

    by JOHN NOLTE 15 Apr 2013, 2:04 PM PDT 199POST A COMMENT

    --
Less than two hours after the horrific bombing at the Boston Marathon, CNN national security analyst Peter Bergen was already speculating that "right-wing extremists" could be behind the attack. He told CNN anchor Jake Tapper:
I'm reminded of Oklahoma City, which was a bombing, which was initially treated as a gas explosion. First reports are often erroneous.
Then Bergen went on to offer up this "first" report:
Once the device -- if it a device -- is found; what kind of explosives were used. So for instance, if it was hydrogen peroxide, this is a signature of al Qaeda. If it was more conventional explosives, which are much harder to get hold of now -- that might be some other kind of right-wing extremist. … We've also seen, for instance, right-wing groups trying to attack the Martin Luther King parade in Oregon in 2010.

So Bergen starts off with comparing what happened at the Boston Marathon to Oklahoma City and then suggest right-wing extremism, even though -- like the rest of us -- he knows nothing.

NOTE: There has been speculation on Twitter that CNN's Wolf Blitzer said something similar. I have found nothing that indicates that is true.

Liberal Media Starts Right Wing Blame Game With Boston Marathon Explosions

    APRIL 15, 2013 6:12 PM 0 COMMENTS VIEWS: 1555

Some members of the liberal media in this country never miss an opportunity in the face of tragedy to blame so-called "right wingers" for whatever crisis happens. And as usual, at least 2 liberal media outlets have mentioned that the Boston Marathon explosions could possibly be related to the official Patriots Day holiday in Massachusetts today. And of course anything Patriot related means "right wing" to the main stream media.

The 2 perpetrators of this kind of sick speculative journalism are none other than Wolf Blitzer host of The Situation Room, who said, “One intriguing notion, one intriguing thought here, and I’m curious, Mike, and I’ll ask Matt to weigh in as well, it is a state holiday, in addition to the Boston Marathon. It is a state holiday in Massachusetts today called Patriots Day, and who knows if that has anything at all to deal — to do with these, these twin explosions.”

Patriots Day is a holiday meant to commemorate the anniversary of the Battles of Lexington and Concord, the first battles of the Revolutionary War.

And secondly, Esquire.com speculated in one of their articles pictured above, "Obviously, nobody knows anything yet, but I would caution folks jumping to conclusions about foreign terrorism to remember that this is the official Patriots Day holiday in Massachusetts, celebrating the Battles at Lexington and Concord, and that the actual date (April 19) was of some significance to, among other people, Tim McVeigh, because he fancied himself a waterer of the tree of liberty and the like."

These are interesting assumptions especially in the light of the New York Post reporting that a Saudi national is under arrest as a suspect and is being guarded in a local hospital. Is the liberal media trying to start something here? What do you think?

SICKENING… Esquire Magazine Urges Readers Not to Jump to Conclusions on Foreign Terrorism, Then Alludes to Domestic Terrorism Re: Boston Bombing

Apparently, according to the allegation that Tim McVeigh “fancied himself a waterer of the tree of liberty,” Esquire Magazine believes we shouldn’t jump to conclusions on foreign terrorism and instead look at domestic terrorism regarding the Boston Bombing.

BOSTON — This is just breaking
, but at least two explosions occurred in downtown Boston near the finish line of the Boston Marathon. Several people were injured and two have been reported dead. There are reports of people missing limbs. Obviously, nobody knows anything yet, but I would caution folks jumping to conclusions about foreign terrorism to remember that this is the official Patriots Day holiday in Massachusetts, celebrating the Battles at Lexington and Concord, and that the actual date (April 19) was of some significance to, among other people, Tim McVeigh, because he fancied himself a waterer of the tree of liberty and the like.

Shameful: New York Times Columnist Nicholas Kristof Links Boston Explosion to GOP, Others Pile On

    By Scott Whitlock | April 15, 2013 | 16:44
    13331428Reddit1184

Never let a tragedy go to waste. New York Times columnist Nicholas Kristof on Monday quickly used the explosions in Boston for political gain, linking the Republican Party to the horrific act. At 4:10pm, Kristof tweeted, "explosion is a reminder that ATF needs a director. Shame on Senate Republicans for blocking apptment." [UPDATE: Kristof has "taken back" the comment and deleted the tweet. See below for screen shot of the tweet.]

Kristof then tweeted a link to a Washington Post story about Senator Charles Grassley questioning the fitness of Obama's Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms nominee. Kristof's comments earned a rebuke from the liberal Politico. Dylan Byers reported, "Kristof's tweet earned a number of responses expressing either anger or bafflement." [SECOND UPDATE: More journalists are politicizing the tragedy. See below.]

At 4:37, Kristof tried to walk back his comment: "People jumping on me for criticizing Sen Repubs for blocking ATF appointments. ok, that was low blow. i take it back." He deleted his original tweet.
Liberal Esquire columnist Charles Pierce immediately went political, speculating:

Obviously, nobody knows anything yet, but I would caution folks jumping to conclusions about foreign terrorism to remember that this is the official Patriots Day holiday in Massachusetts, celebrating the Battles at Lexington and Concord, and that the actual date (April 19) was of some significance to, among other people, Tim McVeigh, because he fancied himself a waterer of the tree of liberty and the like.

MSNBC's Luke Russert wondered about a possible home-grown connection, tweeting, "I was at Fenway Park w my dad and @mikebarnicleduring Waco which was on Patriots Day in 1993. Speculating on possible link."

Former MSNBC host Cenk Uygur speculated about American racism in reaction to the attack. He tweeted, "Our reaction as a country to Boston Marathon is going to be completely different if it's a Muslim w/ a bomb or a white shooter w/ a gun."

Is it too much to ask that columnists refrain from immediately politicizing this tragedy?

CNN National Security Analyst Warns Of ‘Right-Wing Extremists’ Behind Boston Bombings

    by Noah Rothman | 4:36 pm, April 15th, 2013VIDEO» 190 comments

CNN national security analyst Peter Bergentold host Jake Tapper on Monday that the explosions in Boston could be the work of Al Qaeda terrorists as much as they could be part of a planned assault by “right-wing extremists.” Bergen said he was reminded of the Oklahoma City bombing, and that terrorism on the right could not be ruled out.

RELATED: WATCH LIVE: Boston Bombing Near Marathon Finish Line

Tapper asked Bergen if he thought there was a terrorist element behind the attack, to which Bergen replied that this event reminded of the 1995 attack on a federal building in Oklahoma City.
Bergen said that a hydrogen peroxide device would signal that foreign-based terrorist groups are behind the attack. However, if there was another explosive used that may single “right-wing extremists” were involved.

“We’ve seen a number of failed bombing attempts by Al Qaeda,” Bergen cautioned, “but we’ve also seen other extremist groups. Right-wing groups trying to attacking, for instance – trying to attack theMartin Luther King parade in Oregon in 2010.”

“So, if it is a device of some kind, you know, we shouldn’t leap to conclusion about where it’s coming from,” Bergen concluded. He said that he thinks that a hydrogen peroxide bomb was more likely, signaling that Bergen believes that a foreign-based terror group is behind this.
