(The hearings are now suspended, due to an unknown man lunging at / for Rupert Murdoch while he was testifying before British Parliment.

Rupert's wife intercepted the man, hitting him in the face.)

The bobbies now have the man, he was trying to throw a pie in Rupert's face.

In 1985 Murdoch expanded his presence in the U.S. by acquiring 20th Century Fox. He went on to purchase six television stations, which would ultimately form the foundation of Fox Broadcasting Co., the first network to be launched in the U.S. since the big three — CBS, NBC and ABC — began to appear in American living rooms in the 1950s.

In order to conform to the legal requirement that U.S. television stations be owned only by American citizens, Murdoch obtained U.S. citizenship in 1985.
