Does anyone else think there is a version of affirimative...

Does anyone else think there is a version of affirmative action in the entertainment world regarding TV shows, awards, ratings and critics?

In the past few years I have seen a few TV shows such as Grey's Anatomy get praised by a few critics and audiences and there is always a mention of their multi-racial cast. What bothers me is that some fans and critics really praise the work of Chandra Wilson and Sandra Oh. I have watched this show several times and I don't find anything special about their acting. Wilson's acting is a bit better but Oh is sort of bland. Both have been nominated or made the short lists for Emmys and other award nominations.

Does anyone else think they have been getting nominations for simply being a non-white actress on a popular TV show?

I have also seen Eva Longoria getting praised by critics but I think her acting is far worse than Oh and Wilson's acting.

Have you guys noticed how the news media always refers to Obama as being a BLACK guy. Do they know lots of stuff we don't know? We were fed info. that his mother was white and his dad was black... although we now know that his dad was a muslim; thus the Obama name... but no one ever calls him bi-racial.

So, now I wonder if that original story was all a bunch of crap. If Obama's mother was not white, then who the hell was she? According to media he is black... who are his two black parents... truth or lie? I know we can't see his elementary school records, or his middle school records, his high school records, his college records. I mean if he is Osama Bin Laden's son, please fess up now, lolol..

Too many secrets and lies for me. I opt out.

I really long for the good ole days of tv and movies. You didn't have to worry about your token other race. Although I must say that it only pertains to "white" shows. There have been black shows that had NO whites on them. Not that I mind other races on tv. How did we let ourselves in this situation. You know, other countries have slaves. The Africans take people from other tribes and use them for slaves. There are slaves in India, China etc. but the white Americans are being punished for something that happened over 150 years ago. When I visited Columbia, our guide was talking about how blacks were brought to their country and even today they wear their racism on their sleeves. WE have bent over backwards so many times to prove we aren't racist. Why should we have to prove anything. I can't stand it when they act like they can educate your feelings from you. That they can legisalte feelings. This is a free country and I can feel the way I want to feel. Blacks in this country have it better than if they were still in Africa. There you don't have to worry about white people not liking you for your color, they have there own people who don't like them because are from a different tribe. I guess they just can't catch a break.

Ever been to Jamaica? When I was there, I got to talking with a real nice woman (black) who lived there - it was SHE who told me there was more racism among her own people then they'd ever see coming from a white person. To them, it was all about what SHADE your skin was. The lighter skinned blacks were treated better than the darker ones. This was back in the mid nineties when we went there and from what I've seen it is still true there and everywhere else.

This fascinates me - if one was so "in" to thier culture-why does it behoove them to be "white"? I don't get it...
