MA sex offender wins $10 million from scratch ticket

Boston (AP) -- A man listed as one of the state's most dangerous sex offenders has won $10 million from a scratch ticket.

Daniel Snay, of Uxbridge, bought a $20 scratch ticket at a Cumberland Farms store in Hopedale last month. Two weeks later, he received the first of 20 checks for $500,000.

Snay was convicted of a series of assaults in the 1970s and 1980s, including two counts of indecent assault and battery on a child under 14 and two assaults on a person over 14.

Snay is classified in Massachusetts as a Level 3 sex offender, who are those the state considers the most dangerous and most likely to re-offend.

Connecticut officials are considering charging Snay because he allegedly failed to notify police in 2004 that he was moving to Massachusetts. Snay is a truck driver for a boat dealership in Mendon.
