MADD's new recommendations not good for California

Wow the MADD group wants to start pulling over drivers and doing check point inspections. This will not bode well with all of California’s sanctuary cities. I guess the ACLU will need to go after MADD now.
If we did more sobriety checkpoints wouldn’t we be identifying more illegals. We can’t be doing that since California is a sanctuary for illegals.
It has never been easy to be a cop, but the presence today of millions of illegal aliens makes the job enormously more difficult and dangerous. That hazard is multiplied for police who work in a sanctuary city or state , where they are prevented from asking about immigration status, knowledge which should be part of every officer's toolbox.

The MADD org. has this as their 11/20/2006 first recommendation for getting tough on drunk drivers.
“Intensive high-visibility law enforcement, including twice-yearly crackdowns and frequent enforcement efforts that include sobriety checkpoints and saturation patrols in all 50 states;”

Here is what should been done: Rep. Myrick’s amendment states that any illegal alien convicted of a DWI will face automatic deportation. It also requires information on illegal alien drunk drivers be placed into the National Criminal Information Center. http://www.house.gov/list/press/nc0...end_121605.html

Here is an old report with a not surprising number. (1999) Mexican Americans had the highest rate (59.7 percent).

Mexican Hispanics & Native Americans Hardest Hit
    DRIVEN magazine, Spring 1999
Until recently, when traffic fatality records were matched with death certificate data, it was not possible to determine the ethnicity of the drivers, passengers and pedestrians in fatal crashes. But for the February 1999 National Diversity Forum, researchers conducted a study of more than 199,000 people fatally injured in crashes occurring January 1, 1990 through December 31, 1994. The study drew on data from the Fatality Analysis Reporting System (FARS), a government census of all fatal U.S. crashes.
This study confirmed the findings of earlier, more limited studies: Native Americans have a higher proportion of alcohol-related traffic fatalities (73.2 percent) than Caucasians (44.1 percent), while Asians and Pacific Islanders had a significantly lower proportion (27.1 percent).
The study was the first opportunity to analyze the fatal crash involvement of Hispanic American sub-groups. Cuban Americans have a low alcohol-related traffic fatality rate (33.7 percent) while Mexican Americans had the highest rate (59.7 percent).
All ethnic groups experienced a higher proportion of alcohol-related pedestrian fatalities. The rate was 90 percent for Native Americans, ages 16 to 70. Also, only 17 percent of drinking drivers were wearing safety belts at the time of the crash.
African Americans had approximately the same rate of alcohol-related traffic crashes as Hispanics and Caucasians. However, these crashes were linked to only about a quarter of fatal injuries for African Americans while they comprised a third to almost half of all injury deaths for the other groups.

Wow I guess just asking them to speak English and adhere to American standards is too much. I guess if you get hit by an Illegal drunk driver, you can always note that what we really need is to “communicate lifesaving messages about drunk driving and underage drinking to the Spanish-speaking population.”
I like the idea of deporting them better, that will get their attention. http://www.wcnc.com/news/topstories...k.78585018.html

http://www.madd.org/stats/2551 "The need to communicate lifesaving messages about drunk driving and underage drinking to the Spanish-speaking population is unquestionable," says Dr. Raul Caetano of the University of Texas School of Public Health and MADD national board member.
"We must develop communication tools and prevention programs that employ a variety of strategies directed at the individual, community leaders, community groups and official institutions."
We call things racism just to get attention. We reduce complicated problems to racism, not because it is racism, but because it works

Deaths attributed to drunk illegal immigrant drivers are probably one of the most preventable deaths in the country. It's simple - no illegal immigrants - no deaths caused by them!
