NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Police have charged a teenager with attempted murder for the drive-by shooting of a 15-year-old outside a south Nashville McDonald's.

19-year-old Christian Gutierrez was arrested Wednesday night at a home on Winthorne Drive. Police said during interviews, he admitted to shooting the 15-year-old outside the McDonald's on Murfreesboro Pike on Wednesday afternoon. He said the teen had claimed a rival gang affiliation moments before the gunfire started.

The 15-year-oldwas shot multiple times, and is in stable condition at Vanderbilt Children's Hospital.

Detectives believe Gutierrez, who was a passenger in a Honda Civic, came upon the 15-year-old and his two friends by coincidence.

Gutierrez had been a fugitive wanted for murder in the October 16, 2010, fatal shooting of Henry Harrison, 26, who was also known as Jesse Perez, as Harrison walked on Lutie Street.
