Walkersville,MD citizens on alert because of Muslim compound

Walkersville, MD citizens organizing against re-zoning for Muslim compound

Posted by acorcoran on January 6, 2008

Although this isn’t about refugees per se, it does follow on the theme of recent days and that is Muslim immigrants seeking to set themselves apart and in this case by creating a compound for religious activity. Residents of small towns such as Walkersville, MD are spooked by this and citizens are organizing in hopes of defeating a 200 plus acre facility adjacent to town.

Judy and I attended an early public meeting and citizens who spoke up indicated they didn’t care if it was a Muslim project or a Catholic project; re-zoning agricultural land for a religious facility of this size would hurt the quiet character of this little town they told a standing room only crowd. However, in a recent radio program to discuss this Pakastani sect of Islam, leaders of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community did not distance themselves from precepts of Sharia law. So, I (Islamophobe that I am!) would be more than a little nervous about what plans were in place for a closed facility, although the citizens organizing against the rezoning are more concerned with the quality of life, crowded roads and increased demands for services.

To learn more go here. And, check out the Citizens for Walkersville website here. The public hearing will begin on Jan. 8, 2008 at 7 p.m. and run till 10 p.m., and then continue for several more nights due to an anticipated large number of people who might wish to be heard.

    Culturist thoughts and ammunition

We all need to be completely alarmed by such actions. Thank you for fighting this.

Multiculturalism says that America has no core culture; we are an assemblage of random cultures. Culturism recognizes the fact that we are not and have not been an Islamic nation. We have a core tradition that we must defend.

We especially have to defend against Islamic encroachment. Diversity exists. These folks likely do not have sympathy towards America or American ideals. Cultures live in peoples minds, not in theory, and when more of the world gets claimed as Islamic territory, less is claimed as part of the Western World and view.

Where is their money coming from? We should allow money to come from other nations for financial investment. But mosque and compound building is not investment - it is culturist colonialism. We should not allow Saudi Arabia to fund mosques all over our nation. If the people involved are working for other nations they need, I believe, to register as such. Does anyone have more info on this?

Also, citizenship means loyalty and rooting for the country you are a citizen of. This is embedded in our citizenship laws. You must renounce "all foreign potentates" and swear allegience to our constitution to be a citizen. When we allow dual citizenship we are encourage people to violate the oath they take when naturalizing. But they are violating that oath. We need to reinvigorate this idea. Checking their citizenship status and what they say about this country is fair game. It is what the probationary and legal apparati were set up for. Anyone have more info on using this?

And, remember, suspicion of their motives is not racism, it is culturism. Culture is important. The only problem with the term Islamophobia is that it makes it sound irrational. Jihadwatch.org reports more than 10,000 terrorist attacks since 9/11. Muslim compounds should inspire fear. To worry about them is rational, it is culturist, it is based on statistics and the fact that culture and beliefs are important. It does not indicate the irrationality the word phobia implies.

    Thanks for your work!

Some fear/suspicion is good as Americans we need to start returning to some ideas of our past if we intend to remain America and not become England or France. Remember we love diversity and democracy, Muslims will take Islam first and all the above last. They laugh at our weakness and use it against us....

I find myself wondering about how the land was acquired and then rezoned to allow for such a compound. This is a disturbing trend-I'm not big on the compound idea for any religious group but am less inclined to support them during a time when Islam seems to be increasingly hijacked by extremists and those calling for Islamic monotheism throughout the world.

Let me add that I would feel the same way if Christianity, Judiasm or any other religion were being taken over by extremism, monotheism and the ideas of separatism.

Rainbow13, there are many wise people who are suggesting that Islam in itself is extremism:

Personally if it was my sleepy little community I wouldn't be happy about ANYTHING bringing traffic and lots of people to my area.Kinda negates the purpose of living in the peaceful country setting.

Lugundum, I'm beginning to agree with those that feel that way...I rarely hear moderate Muslims address the growing fanaticism in Islam, and I think that may have much to do with fear.

Thanks for the link also...your posts are informative and eye-opening.
