    Gas Prices and Political Elections

I have heard before, that certain issues in the stock markets, and/or about pricing of products, which have been used to influence political outcomes.

Now I am wondering if the high gas prices we have been seeing, is more about the elections here in the U.S., and less about actual oil reserves, and/or prices?

Would, or could OPEC get away with upping the price of oil in order to make gas prices go up for Americans, in order to cause political unrest and dissention in Americans towards our own government? Could there be some other underlying thing that people are missing? Isn't OPEC a group of major oil producers of Americans greatest opponents?

CNN, just now, Cafferty was talking about oil futures potentially going upwards to over $200 per barrell, which would translate into $7.00 to $8.00 a gallon, now that would certainly cause major unrest in our country, and also be a burder on our own military. Could this be something that OPEC is hoping for?

Cost of a barrel of oil is just part of the price. Speculators are buying commodities like oil because of a weak dollar which is a great part of the price push as well as the summer switchover to "botique" fuels, problems in other nations such as Nigeria, etc., as well as supply and demand.

The cost of gas is going to be insignificant and one of the least worries if food keeps skyrocketing. Tyson Foods said an additional 600 million dollars had been added to their raw product cost due to the increase in grain prices. The fools better can ethanol before the world goes into massive anarchy because of hunger. The West is completely arrogant burning food based on the hoax of global warming and "dependence" on foreign oil. There are NO alternative fuels for the immediate future and we better start drilling. Relying on these fickle foreign nations for supply is idiotic. At least Canada is our NO. 1 supplier along with Mexico, so it wouldn't take much to replace Mid-East oil. But they never will because of "political reasons." So the seeking "independence" from foreign oil is a joke.

Gofer, I agree that burning "alternative" fuels in places of petroleum fuel as a supposed means to slow "global warming" (this brings up images of Al Gore jumping into his private jet and then met at airport with an SUV). It is the bigeest hoax and/or left wing conspiracy theory there is.

I want to see us go into Alaska and other places within our own nation we KNOW has oil. We do this and we will assure ourselves oil that we did not have to depend on from enemy nations. I feel sure that our own companies drilling within our own nation would be cautious and take care, there livelyhood would depend on it.

I live in the suburbs of Portland, Oregon, one of the worst for left-wing nut jobs running around telling us all to walk, bike take bus and recycle all cause the enviromental sky is falling!!!!!! All I ever hear lately is that d____ word "sustainability". I have lived sustainable long enough. I buy clothes only when ny other clothes fall of of my body due to age, we use towels instead of paper towels, we live in a cramped rental, we drive ONE vehicle, we do not buy pre-made frozen or packaged meals, we take our own food on long trips, my husband commutes to work via light rail, you know why we have always lived so "sustainable"? It is because we do not have the $$$ to live otherwise, and this is what keeps us in a place to live. The people telling us all to give up so much to live sustainable are the ones who have six figure incomes and drive SUV's and pay non-English speaking gardeners. They have NO idea what it is to live sustainably, they just think it sounds like a warm and fuzzy good idea to make them feel better when they go into Starbucks every morning (while my husband and I drink homemade coffee at home or in a commuter mug on the go).

Shoot, even the areas longest standing classic rock station is now promoting "sustainable living" by all of their past their prime DJ's. Makes me sick. Ok, PMS rant over.

According to Martha Stewart and Rosie O'Donell, going green is turning off the lights in the mansion not presently being used or eating leftovers. They actually talked about this. The average American has been living "green", they just didn't know it. It is the elitist snobs who are talking about "sustainable" living and haven't a clue.

AL Gore cut his electric by 12% after installing solar panels on his mansion. Now he only uses 10 TIMES the electricity of a normal household!

Gofer, meatloaf sandwiches. So many school lunches with leftover meatloaf sandwiches. Another one here in the Pacific NW, so many relatives and family friends we knew did salmon fishing, so many salmon sandwiches (instead of tuna).

I can guess that Martha Stewart would think that was "good living", but for me it is the reason I now dislike the taste of salmon. Not so bad on the meatloaf, but still do not hardly make it.

Leftovers, yeah I bet those two think that is just the most clever thing they have ever done, and likely think that no one else has ever thought of it before.
