(NEWS CENTER) -- As Maine's population continues to diversify, State Officials believe immigrants will likely carry the State's workforce in the future.
John Dorrer with the Department of Labor believes that as Maine's population ages, immigrants to the State could sustain the workforce in the coming years, but they need the right training.
Right now there is a growing number of Iraqi immigrants choosing to live in Maine for the low crime rate and job opportunities.
Many of these immigrants are well-educated professionals who are struggling to find work. Last year 30% of Portland's General Assistance Budget went to people who are able-bodied and willing to work, but cannot find a job.
I am sure the citizens of Maine appreciate this , since it is their dollars you are giving away ...
