The article doesn't quote Pompeo accurately for what he actually said at the hearing.

That's correct, fissile material CAN BE USED for nuclear bombs, just like crude oil can be used for gasoline engines. But just like crude oil must be refined before it is suitable for gasoline engines, fissile material, that can run a reactor, must be refined to be potent enough to use in a nuclear bomb. That's why they took so long to put all the pieces together to test-explode the nuclear devices they have tested.

We don't know how much weapons grade material they have stockpiled. As they make more fissile material, they have more to refine into bomb grade material.

You said "Pompeo specifically said they were still making fuel grade fissile material for bombs." "fuel" is not the same as refined for bombs. It just means they are building up a reserve that could be refined.

North Korea has been developing nuclear technologies since the 1950's for both reactors and bombs. They aren't going to stop either one until they have a security agreement with the United States. Why would they? Why would anyone? Now it's sad that our "intel" community didn't know that, apparently has no information on their program, and learn from TeeVee when they see long-range ICBM's flying through the sky that "oh gee, lookey there, damn it, they can reach the United States now, we were hoping they were years away".

And people wonder why Donald Trump doesn't "trust" our "intelligence agencies"? No one should trust our "intelligence agencies" at this point. They've gotten every big call wrong for at least 20 years.
