Nearly Two Dozen Cuban Migrants Land In Key West
Good morning and welcome to America.

23 Cuban migrants arrived in a makeshift boat early Tuesday morning at Higgs Beach in Key West. The group, which included two children, all appeared to be in good health. One of the Cuban's relatives, who lives in Hialeah, was already on the beach with milk for the babies and food and drinks for the adults by the time Key West Police officers arrived.

The boat appeared to be the hull of a sailboat, without the mast. The Cubans were taken to the Monroe County Detention Center for holding, where they will be processed and transported by the U.S. Customs Border Patrol.

And they said the coast guard was ready for any incoming from cuba. it seems they weren't as ready as they thought.

At what point does this end? All of our laws with regard to immigration need a total overhaul. I think we have enough Cuban refugees here already as exhibited by Tancredos summation of Florida being a3rd world country. Cubans need to register and get in line with the rest of the illegal aliens coming here. Enough already.

If this site is dedicated to promoting legal immigration, what is the problem with the Cubans who arrive and touch soil? It is legal. There is no need to wait in line as the law is already in place for Cubans to be treated differently. The inference one may reach through your reply is that you've had enough with with immigrants, since they would be legal if they touched the soil.

Let's do what the Greeks are doing. Put the cubans back in their boat and send them back. I'm sure Lil' Ole' gov BOOSH welcomed them with mariachi bands and tacos. Loser...

That is exactly my point. They like Mexicans are not in any danger by staying in Cuba. My point is that OUR IMMIGRATION LAWS need to be overhauled. Not only are they outdated, it is not fair to cater to one particular ethnic group/race of people. People in Africa are dying of hunger and don't even have running water. What's good for the goose is good for the gander as evidenced by the mass confusion of who passes for an "immigrant" these days. We cannot perpetually bare all of the 3rd world burdens and plights and as a taxpayer, I am really at my wits end.

We are overrun with too many people making excuses for fleeing their homelands. There are people globally living in far worse conditions than those coming here "for a better paying job". At some point the citizens of these nations need to rise up and fix their own countries and make a better life for themselves and their children, as opposed to fleeing them. While it become easier for them to cross our borders and our waters, it is becoming more burdensome for American taxpayers. Our schools, hospitals, living conditions, food supply and country in general is being systematically destroyed by foreign overpopulation, diseases, gangs and poverty.

At the rate we are going, America and her future generations will become aliens and victims of poverty crime and disease ridden 3rd world cultures of these 3rd world countries because all of their citizens will be living here and most with the same problems/lifestyles they have when they arrived here.

You cannot outrun yourself as evidenced by the skyrocketing number of identity thefts, murders, rapes, robberies, drunk driving, drug wars, illegal alien birthrates and various other culturally embedded habits along with dual cultural demands being crammed down our throats. They flee their homelands and want America/Americans to change in order to accomodate them and the very culture of corruption they claim to be fleeing, while bringing it with them. Change comes from within and charity begins at home.

I agree, WhatMattersMost, the law favoring Cubans is discriminatory and should be abolished.

Thanks MW! It has gotten to the point that everyone coming here "looking for a better life" seems to think that it is their birth right to come here and they should be welcomed with open arms, given a job, bank account, and a mortgage.

You can rest assured nobody who comes here with their hands out ever stops to think that we are fast becoming the cesspool that they come here to escape. What's even more disturbing is that they want all the perks with no tax penalties while most Americans who make a penny more than 10K a year aren't entitled to any of the programs their tax dollars subsidize.

What our elected officials and big businesses don't realize is that if another amnesty is given, all the former "undocumented workers" or ILLEGAL ALIENS will then demand to be paid higher wages. They are only shooting themselves in the foot.
Its obvious they are so blinded by their own greed and corruption.
These special considerations for seperate countries must be stopped. Let's keep the new law much more simple.
If you want to become an American, great! we will welcome you, as long as you do it legally. It should not matter what country they originate from.

I think they do realize this. I believe they know that the government has no intention of enforcing immigration laws or securing the border post amnesty. When the illegals here are given amnesty and are covered under labor laws like any other citizen, the employers will just hire more illegals who will be rushing to our border in the hopes that sometime down the line there will be another amnesty (which in all probability there will be).
