New candidate owes $1.7 million in state taxes

SACRAMENTO – A Guess clothing company co-founder who recently filed papers to run for California governor owes the state $1.7 million in taxes.

The California Franchise Tax Board said it filed a tax lien against Georges Marciano on March 19. A board spokeswoman said the state has tried repeatedly to recover taxes owed by the fashion magnate. Marciano, 62, wasn't available for comment. The Beverly Hills resident filed to run as an independent in the 2010 gubernatorial election.

I think this guy wants to be part of the Obama administration.

I wonder if he owes U.S. taxes too.

Polititians and would be polititians obviously dont follow the same laws as the rest of us.

This guy know that he owes these taxes, it's not like he hasn't figured it out yet, because the state has demanded payment and he wants to draw attention to himself by running for public office? He might not be playing with a full deck. It will be interesting to see if he also owes Federal Income Taxes.
