Roofers Remove Roof On Wrong Home
CLARSKVILLE, Tenn. - A Fort Campbell wife whose husband is currently serving in Afghanistan came home to find her roof gone and her house full of water.
Daisy Johnson said that at first, she thought a storm must have passed through Clarksville while she was on vacation.
"We thought we had a tornado or a bad storm, so I called the insurance company and made a claim for wind damage," she said.
When insurance adjustors arrived and saw that every shingle had been removed from one side of her roof, they informed her that the damage had nothing to do with Mother Nature.
"They said it wasn't wind damage," she said. "Apparently someone got the wrong house and started a roof repair."
Johnson called Clarksville Police, who came out to her house on South Senseney Circle and started talking to neighbors.
"We found there was a vehicle seen in the yard, and there was a dumpster," said Police Department Spokesman Jim Knoll. "People saw them working on the roof and taking off the shingles."
Investigators believe the roofing crew packed up their gear and ran away when they realized a mistake had been made.
"If you made a mistake, step up," said Knoll. "Fix the roof. If not, we're continuing the investigation into this, and we may possibly charge those people with vandalism."
Johnson says it happened sometime between August 15th and August 22nd, when she was out of town. Because it also rained during that time period, she has water damage throughout her attic and ceilings.
Insurance adjustors estimate it will cost about $13,000 to repair Daisy's roof and the damage done inside her home. Because that property damage amount is so high, Clarksville Police say the roofing company responsible could even face felony charges.
Investigators hope it doesn't come to that, but stress they will eventually find out who did this.
Johnson hopes that happens sooner rather than later.
"Please just come forward because it's not fair. My husband is deployed, and he doesn't need to go through all this stress right now while he's over there. And for sure we shouldn't be paying for this damage," she said.
At the very least, Johnson says they'll have to pay a hefty deductible and higher premiums for someone else's mistake.
If you have any information about what happened, call the Clarksville Police Department.

She needs to find out who had the dumpster delivered that shouldn't be to hard, just a few phone calls! And see who has the new roof on her block!
And we did put a roof on the wrong address once!
It was new construction so it wasn't torn off, the roofing co. that was contracted to do the roof were like "Thanks, Chump!" and threw in a "You guys do nice work!"
And yes her husband has enough on his plate, without having to worry about this! And hey! Please call stevetheroofer for all your roofing needs!Support our FIGHT AGAINST illegal immigration & Amnesty by joining our E-mail Alerts at http://eepurl.com/cktGTn
