One day before the march to be held from May 1 for the purpose of drawing attention in Congress on immigration reform, representatives of immigrant organizations were convened by the White House to discuss the bases of what will be a future immigration reform integral. Quoted in the White House will be held on Wednesday May 13 and involved members of the board of the Coalition for Immigrants in the Metropolitan Area of Washington, among others. http://www.ncicmetro.org/index.html

The executive director of CASA of Maryland, Washington drew Gustavo Torres Hispanic to hold the meeting with the director of intergovernmental relations for the White House, and Stephanie Valencia and Cecilia Munoz of the office of public liaison.

He further explained that the purpose of the call is heard from sources that what the community expects of immigration reform. Therefore Gustavo Torres submitted a report done at the national level to identify proposals for organizational leaders and the general public.

"The report focuses on four key issues: legalization for millions of illegal aliens getting them out of the shadows, opportunities for legal entry to the U.S. in the future, protecting the borders from criminals, the passage of the Act fulfilling the dreams of students known as DREAM Act and an end to the raids, "said Gustavo Torres. Likewise emphasized that the White House had informed them that President Barack Obama will decide in early June to announce their position on the reform and then convene a forum to which they invite people and institutions advocating for reform migration. Then ask Congress to begin the discussion of immigration reform by year's end or early 2010.

"Undoubtedly we are definitely optimistic that the president is committed to pass the reform but Obama is not the Savior, or you can do alone. The community must be prepared to advocate for our rights and mobilize, "said Torres.

"Also this time the political environment is another, more organizations are united and have the backing of unions," he added.

On the same day that the march was held on Friday, May 1, the Association for the Advancement of Latin American Workers (LCLAA, for its initials in English) reaffirmed its commitment to comprehensive immigration reform that allows millions of working families to leave light and improve their quality of life.

"Highlighting the statement of Eliseo Medina, executive vice president of the International Union Service Employees, LCLLA supports a comprehensive immigration reform that seeks to ensure and improve control of our borders, legalize the undocumented population and reforming the current temporary worker programs and create a commission to anticipate and regulate migration flows based on current needs, "said Milton Rosado, National President of LCLAA.

    Another positive sign

On Tuesday, May 6 during a hearing of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS, for its initials in English), the secretary of that department, Janet Napolitano expressed her support for the DREAM Act would allow the legalization of undocumented youth attending the college or entering the Army.

"This is one of those areas in which everyone wants to apply the immigration laws, but also address issues arising from the human situation. Supports the DREAM Act as governor of Arizona and I continue to support. DREAM Act is good legislation and good idea, "said Napolitano.

The best Immigration Reform is enforcement.

The reform we need is for our government to enforce our immigration laws and send them all packing.
