Author warns president will bring 'disaster' to U.S., Jewish state

The Obama administration's actions the past few days prove it is a direct threat to Israel and Middle East regional stability, the author of a blockbuster new book charges.

In The Late Great State of Israel, author and WND Jerusalem bureau chief Aaron Klein draws urgent attention to the unprecedented, mortal danger that Israel faces.

A major portion of the work focuses on how Obama's policies are likely to cause grave harm to the Jewish state.

Now with reports of a major rift in U.S.-Israel relations and claims the Obama administration may seek to "punish" Israel for failing to comply with settlement restrictions, Klein's work is more relevant than ever.

"Obama's major address tomorrow to the Muslim world along with his diplomacy with Iran and his recent mild response to North Korean nuclear testing are coalescing to project an image of American weakness that could result in disastrous ramifications for the U.S. and Israel," Klein said.

Just yesterday, Obama reiterated that Iran may have the right to nuclear energy, provided it takes steps to prove its aspirations are peaceful. His declaration sent jolts down the spines of Jerusalem officials concerned over Iran's suspected nuclear weapons development program, according to Klein.

This past weekend, the New York Times reported the Obama administration is considering taking measures against Israel should the Netanyahu government not comply with the U.S. administration's demands to halt settlements.

The Times report outlined what it said were some of the steps Obama may take, including ceasing near-complete support for Israel in the United Nations; refraining from opposing U.N. security council resolutions, which are usually unfairly anti-Israel; and using Obama's "pulpit" to criticize Israeli settlement activity.

Commented Klein: "Obama seems to believe Jews living in the West Bank are the main impediments to peace. This is a major distortion of the facts. It's the Palestinian and greater Arab rejection of Israel's existence that is the core of the issue. The Arabs attacked Israel intent on destroying the country long before the Jewish state retained the strategic West Bank. By putting the onus on Israel, Obama is traveling down a dangerous path."
