LA Schools have a 60% dropout rate. Here is a video on the reasons they think but there are a few they are not talking about I'm sure.

There's a huge drop out all over. Even the ones who make it aren't comming out with much to work with. They gave some big percentage of college kids who have a ton of remedial classes to take before they can even get into college courses. Simply too many not valuing an education at all anymore and too many parents not caring either.

I know by the time my oldest graduated about 1/2 of her class dropped out. Some literally and others went to a more advanced study at the Jr. College because they couldn't handle the poor environment at the HS.

What? Hire a psychatrist to figure out "I don't like school. I don't know. You just sit down. You just hear the teacher. It's boring."

And why are most of them are in English as a second language. That made no sense

When I look at schools in general all around the country, the job they were supposed to do has not been done. And then stuck behind school buses, most munchkins getting off seem to be anchor babies.
At the high school level, there are a lot of peer pressures to join gangs, and why would a kid ignore the chance of making $1,000 a day selling crack on the sidewalk, while single mom is working two jobs to put food on the table. The money, legal or illegal, is more attractive as is the comradery of being a member of an elite group.
