Illegals and Anchors go home, we don't want to pay for you!
If this bill is passed we will save billions of dollars!

Anchor baby citizenship is just as big a magnet for illegal aliens as the jobs. I heard an illegal alien(speaking with a translator) saying on a radio program that even with the job losses the illegals weren't going back because they still received much more here in America than they would in Mexico. If this birthright citizenship, with all it's many taxpayer funded benefits ended, I believe we might see massive self deportations.

I strongly disagree that this is a good thing.
Birthright citizenship should only be granted to those born to American citizens (no one but American citizens should be serving in our armed forces). Otherwise we open ourselves up to horrendous abuse by the foreign hordes that continue to hold allegiance to their nation of origin, and for whom the only reason to have a child while in America is to create a permanent anchor.
I liken this to the current trend among young people who, while not willing to make a commitment to each other through marriage but will have several children together to try the relationship out. Likewise, unless one is willing to make the sacrifice and commitment required to enjoy the privilege of American citizenship, one should have no reasonable expectation that your child should be entitled to it simply because you are “legallyâ€<div>

Also, it is completely unnecessary. The 14th Amendment is crystal clear in that the parents must be under the jurisdiction of the United States of America in order for the child to be granted citizenship. Just because hordes of criminals prefer a different interpretation doesn't mean we should just "go with the flow".
My biggest fear is that unless we insist, no DEMAND that current law is enforced and obeyed all of our laws will be rendered ineffective.
Let’s think about this one real hard people. It is a wolf in sheep’s clothing.<div>

I might have been to hasty........
melena99, thank you for your comments, I am going to re-think my position on this bill. I did not understand the underpinnings of this bill, as you described them.

ELE, thank you for taking the time to reconsider.
One of the most valuable things about this board is that we have the opportunity to get different perspectives on things as they arise, and can really examine them from many different angels.
I suspect this is the main reason President Barack Obama* is now working furiously to pull the plug on internet communication. We must fight this tooth and nail as well.
Anyway, thanks again for lending your ear.<div>
