    (AP) - A look at Ohio's demographics and how its numbers compare with those of the United States:

    - Percentage of population change, 2000-2007: Ohio, 1; U.S., 7.2

    - Median age: Ohio, 37.6; U.S., 36.4

    - Percentage of women: Ohio, 51.2; U.S., 50.7

    - Percentage of whites: Ohio, 82.9; U.S., 66.4

    - Percentage of blacks: Ohio, 12; U.S., 12.8

    - Percentage of Hispanics or Latinos: Ohio, 2.3; U.S., 14.8

    - Median household income: Ohio, $44,532; U.S., $48,451

    - Percentage of foreign born: Ohio, 3.6; U.S., 12.5

    - Percentage of population below poverty: Ohio, 13.3; U.S., 13.3

    - Percentage of population with a Bachelor's degree or higher (age 25+): Ohio, 23; U.S., 27

    - Median home value: Ohio, $135,200; U.S., $185,200

    A look the state's manufacturing employment in context of trade:

    - Between 1995 and 2006, 71,242 Ohio workers lost their jobs due to trade, including workers who were affected specifically by NAFTA. The number was roughly 7 percent of total manufacturing employment in 1995.

    - Between 2004 and 2006, 4,964 Ohio workers lost their jobs because of production moving to Mexico and Canada. That's roughly six-tenths of 1 percent of total manufacturing employment in 2004.
