Ohio Judge Orders Hospital to Provide Ivermectin to COVID-19 Patient

An Ohio judge ordered a hospital to treat a man with ivermectin as he’s gravely sick with coronavirus disease, potentially opening the door for patients who wish to try the experimental treatment against the will of healthcare providers.
Jeffrey Smith will receive ivermectin following an emergency lawsuit on the part of his wife, Julie. Julie Smith had consulted on the possibility of treating Mr. Smith with Dr. Fred Wagshul.
Dr. Wagshul, an advocate of ivermectin, has shared accounts of six hospitalized coronavirus patients who were treated with ivermectin, all of whom recovered and left intensive treatment.
“We’ve had six cases nationally where people were intubated on ventilators, six different states, and went home after taking it and no one can explain it,” said Dr. Wagshul, a founding member of the Frontline COVID-19 Critical Care Alliance. The CDC has opposed using ivermectin to treat COVID-19.
Judge Gregory Howard ordered West Chester Hospital to provide ivermectin to Smith for a period of three weeks in the ruling, issued Sunday. The hospital had argued they didn’t have enough experience in the prescription and use of the drug to provide it to Smith, an argument the dying man’s wife found less than convincing or relevant.
Court documents involving Smith’s case reveal that the man has been given a 30% chance of surviving COVID-19, and that he’s on a ventilator at West Chester Hospital.

Establishment media with little to no medical expertise has sought to dismiss any COVID-19 treatment role of ivermectin, exclusively describing the drug as a horse dewormer when it’s been used to treat parasitic infections and river blindness in millions of people, primarily in tropical developing countries. The supposed fringe drug is the 420th most commonly prescribed drug in the United States, with more than 100,000 prescriptions in 2018.
