Sheriff Joe Arpaio blended in quietly with 60 other men and women called to jury duty in Maricopa County Superior Court Thursday morning.

But when the case was announced, it turned out to be one that was investigated by the Sheriff's Office.

The presiding judge asked the 60 members of the pool, "Is there anyone here who works for the Sheriff's Office?"

Arpaio meekly raised his hand, the judge asked him to stand.

"Do you work for the Sheriff's Office?" the judge asked.

"Yes sir, in fact, I am the Sheriff."

Arpaio was promptly asked to leave the courtroom.

"I wanted to do my civic duty but as luck would have it, I was called to serve on my own agency's case!" Arpaio said.
