Oprah Winfrey's Show Offered in Spanish

Oprah Winfrey's Show Offered in Spanish

    Monday, October 20, 2008 2:00 PM

CHICAGO -- "The Oprah Winfrey Show" is becoming bilingual.

Chicago-based Harpo Productions says the show is being made available in Spanish through Secondary Audio Programming and closed captioning.

The Spanish-language offerings launched Monday in the country's six largest Hispanic TV markets, including Chicago, Los Angeles, New York, Miami, Houston and Dallas. More cities are expected to be added this season.

"The Oprah Winfrey Show" is now in its 22nd season. It's syndicated to 214 domestic stations and 139 countries.

She won't be able to compete with the talk shows anchored by popular latinas, such as Laura, Cristina & Maria Celeste.

Oprah has been turning me off for a few years.

I once enjoyed her show because she brought medical and lifestyle information to the female viewers. She once had good material and rose to a level of quality. However, when she started in on that new age philosophy crap some shows were not tolerable, then the Scientologist hugging increased so I was picking and choosing when to watch and the Couched Episode was one I happened to pick to watch and it was the last show I saw.

The last straw was her endorsement of Obama, which as she said on Larry King, he is the only candidate she has ever endorsed. Her public endorsement and fundraising for a candidate makes me feel like she has lost all control and is now nothing more than in influence peddler. I will never make any effort to watch her show again. I have a strong belief that you can not report and endorse without bias.
