Outbreak could close military cemeteries

  WASHINGTON (AP) – Taps could be silenced for veterans who die during a bird flu out*break .
  The Department of Veterans Affairs foresees closing the 120 national cemeteries in a pan*demic because of staffing short*ages, leaving families the option of delaying burial or seeking in*terment elsewhere.
  The VA buries more than 250 veterans and eligible fami*ly members a day – about 93,000 people a year. It oper*ates cemeteries in 39 states and Puerto Rico.
  Those cemeteries could be shut and burials put on hold during a pandemic, presumably even as the death toll rises, ac*cording to a plan that lays out how the department will cope with an influenza outbreak. The government is preparing for a worst-case scenario of nearly 2 million deaths in the United States in a pandemic.
  The VA health care system would continue treating vet*erans at its 150-plus hospitals and hundreds of small clinics.

What bothers me is the VA said they are providing backup healthcare which we know means illegal aliens. Veterans as myself have enough problems obtaining health care due to budget cuts and the increasing number of casualties from operations in Iraq and Afghanistan. Hell the government is already employing illegal aliens on military installations while retired military veterans like myself are unable to find a job. What else are we going to give to illegal aliens that has been set aside or reserved for our fighting men and women?
