    Ten people were slain and another 16 people were wounded in Chicago over the weekend, including a 16-year-old girl stabbed to death during a fight on the South Side, according to police.

    , a popular track standout at Johnson College Prep, was stabbed in the chest when a large group began fighting around 7:30 p.m. Saturday in the 6500 block of South King Drive in the Parkway Gardens neighborhood, according to Officer Michelle Tannehill, a police spokeswoman.


    Police initially said two people were in custody.

    But they later said no one had been arrested.


    Nine people were shot to death in weekend gun violence, including a 17-year-old boy killed in Lawndale and two people found with fatal gunshot wounds in an SUV on the Kennedy Expressway.


    Most of the fatal shootings occurred on the West Side, where the 17-year-old was found with a gunshot wound to the chest. The crime scene took up nearly the entire 1500 block of South Karlov Avenue, between rows of large new single-family homes.

    On the Kennedy, Eric Taylor, 43, and Camille Cooley, 36, were found dead in a silver Chevrolet Tahoe early Sunday with gunshot wounds to their heads, according to Illinois State Police.


    A gun was found inside the Tahoe, and one of the passenger-side windows was shattered. As of early Monday, police were not releasing more information about the deaths.


    The number of homicides was up from last weekend's eight. But the number of people wounded in non-fatal shootings was significantly down from 43 last weekend.


    At least 1,300 people have been shot so far this year, at least 231 of them fatally.


    On Friday night
    , one person was killed and four were injured;from Saturday morning to Sunday morning, six people were fatally shot and eight wounded; and from Sunday afternoon to early Monday two people were killed and four were injured.

    Three men were killed and at least eight other people — including a 15-year-old boy and 16-year-old girl — were wounded in shootings Monday across Chicago.

    Most recently, one man was killed and two others were injured in a Noble Square neighborhood shooting on the Near West Side, police said.

    The 26-year-old man was standing with two other men in the 1500 block of West Walton shortly after 11 p.m. when another male walked up and fired shots, according to Chicago Police.
    He suffered gunshot wounds to the chest and was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.
    The two other men, ages 19 and 20, were also injured in the shooting and drove themselves to Stroger Hospital, police said. The younger man was shot in the head and listed in serious condition, while the older man was shot in the arm and had his condition stabilized.
    Less than 30 minutes earlier, a man was shot to death in the Irving Park neighborhood on the Northwest Side, police said.
    The man was standing outside in the 4300 block of North Elston about 10:50 p.m. when he was approached by another male who pulled out a gun and opened fire, police said.
    The man, whose exact age was not known, was found lying on the sidewalk with a gunshot wound to the head, police said. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
    Police said a suspect was in custody early Tuesday.
    About 8:35 p.m., a man was shot to death on an I-57 ramp in the Morgan Park neighborhood on the Far South Side, police said.
    The 37-year-old was driving a silver van in the 11000 block of South Hamlet near the I-57 on-ramp when someone fired shots, police said.
    The van continued north onto I-57 before coming to a stop near 108th Street, police said. The man was pronounced dead at the scene with a gunshot wound to the head.
    The Cook County medical examiner’s office could not immediately confirm any of the fatalities early Tuesday.
    The most recent nonfatal shooting left a 16-year-old girl wounded Monday night in the North Lawndale neighborhood on the West Side.
    The teenager was riding a bicycle about 7:20 p.m. in the 1300 block of South Independence when a male walked up and fired shots in her direction, police said. She was shot in the chest and taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where her condition was stabilized.
    About an hour earlier, a 15-year-old boy was shot in the Austin neighborhood on the West Side. He was standing outside in the 1600 block of North Monitor about 6:22 p.m. when someone in a passing vehicle shot him in the foot, police said. He was taken to West Suburban Medical Center in Oak Park in good condition.
    About 5:15 p.m., a 24-year-old man was shot in the West Pullman neighborhood on the Far South Side. He was shot about 5:15 p.m. in the 12200 block of South Emerald, police said. He took himself to MetroSouth Medical Center in Blue Island with a gunshot wound to the leg.
    Earlier Monday afternoon, a man was injured in a South Side Englewood neighborhood shooting. The 51-year-old was shot in the chest about 2 p.m. in the 6700 block of South Green, police said. He was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where his condition was stabilized.
    More then eight hours earlier, a bullet grazed a man’s back in a Back of the Yards neighborhood shooting on the South Side. He showed up at Holy Cross Hospital about 5:45 a.m. after the attack in the 4900 block of South Throop, police said. The man’s exact age wasn’t immediately known and he wasn’t cooperating with investigators about the specifics of the shooting. He was listed in good condition.
    Monday’s first shooting happened about 12:35 a.m. in the Kelvyn Park neighborhood on the Northwest Side. The man was walking on the sidewalk in the 4700 block of West Fullerton when someone pulled up in a dark-colored SUV and fired shots, police said. The man was struck in the right arm and took himself to Presence Saints Mary and Elizabeth Medical Center, where his condition was stabilized.

    A man was killed and at least 11 more people were wounded in shootings across the city on Tuesday, according to Chicago Police.

    The homicide happened about 9:30 p.m. in Humboldt Park on the West Side.

    A 38-year-old man was walking in the 1300 block of North Pulaski when he heard shots and realized he’d been struck in the chest, police said.
    He was taken to Stroger Hospital, where he later died, police said. The Cook County medical examiner’s office did not immediately confirm the death.
    The latest nonfatal shooting happened about 30 minutes earlier in Little Village on the Southwest Side.
    A 42-year-old man was shot in the right ankle while running away from two people who got out of a dark car and opened fire in Little Village’s 2100 block of South Fairfield about 9 p.m. The man was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where his condition was stabilized, police said.
    About 8:20 p.m., a 32-year-old man was shot and critically wounded in the North Lawndale neighborhood on the Southwest Side.He was getting into a vehicle in the 1500 block of South Washtenaw when someone walked up and shot him repeatedly, police said. He was critical at Mount Sinai.
    Five minutes earlier, a 19-year-old man was shot in the left knee in the 8900 block of South Parnell in Auburn Gresham and taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn in good condition.
    Another South Side shooting happened just before 7 p.m. in Bronzeville, where a 28-year-old man was shot in the right foot in the 600 block of East Bowen, police said. He took himself to Mercy Hospital and Medical Center, where he was listed in good condition.
    Tuesday afternoon, a 21-year-old man was shot in the arm in the 3100 block of West Polk about 1:45 p.m. in East Garfield Park and taken to Stroger in good condition.
    In the morning, two people walked up to an 18-year-old man in the 6200 block of South Kimbark in Woodlawn and one of them shot him in the calf. He was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital in good condition after the 9:30 a.m. shooting, police said.
    Early Tuesday, a 19-year-old man heard shots and realized he’d been hit in the knee while walking with a friend about 3:30 a.m. in the 6200 block of South Komensky in the West Lawn neighborhood, police said. He took himself to Christ Medical Center in good condition.
    An hour before that, someone shot a 35-year-old man standing outside in the 2100 block of West Adams on the Near West Side. He was taken in serious condition to Stroger with a gunshot wound to the chest, police said.
    At 1:03 a.m., an 18-year-old man riding in a car in the 4500 block of South Wolcott in Back of the Yards was then taken to Mount Sinai in serious condition after being shot in the right shoulder.
    Less than 10 minutes earlier, officers responding to a call of a person shot in the 2700 block of North Hoyne found a 24-year-old man with multiple gunshot wounds in the back yard of a North Side home, police said. He was listed in critical condition at Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center.
    The day’s first shooting was reported at 12:40 a.m. in South Shore. A 23-year-old man walking in the 2000 block of East 71st Street was shot in the foot by someone in a passing SUV, police said. He later walked in to Jackson Park Hospital and his condition was stabilized.
    Another 11 people were shot in the city a day earlier, leaving three dead.

    20 shot in 16 hours in Chicago, including boy, 12, and couple in South Loop road rage

    At least 20 people were shot over 16 hours in Chicago on Wednesday into early Thursday, including a 12-year-old boy shot while at a restaurant and a couple in their 20s shot in the South Loop during a road rage incident that began on Lake Shore Drive, police said.
    The boy and some friends were entering Golden Fish & Chicken in the 200 block of South Western Avenue shortly before 7 p.m. when a red SUV pulled up and shots were fired, according to Officer Kevin Quaid, a police spokesman.
    The boy suffered a graze wound to his leg and was taken to Stroger Hospital in good condition, police said.
    “I’m just thanking God,” the boy's older brother, Johnny Lindsey, told WGN-TV. “It could have been worse. ... He’s OK. I’m OK.”

    Some neighbors watching police said they heard nine or 10 shots. Others said they heard as many as 15.
    The intersection of Western and Jackson was partially blocked off by yellow tape on South Western near the restaurant, on the northeast corner of the intersection. Broken glass littered the pavement, and large bullet holes were visible in the window glass on the Jackson side.

    The road rage shooting happened about seven hours later, shortly after 2 a.m. Thursday, police said.

    2 shot in South Loop after chase on Lake Shore Drive: 'I have her blood on my hands!'


    A 23-year-old woman and a 24-year-old man were in a red car on Lake Shore Drive near Michigan Avenue when another vehicle followed them and someone inside it fired shots, police said.
    The man drove to Jefferson and Harrison streets in the South Loop, where the couple called 911, police said.
    The man was hit in the buttocks and the woman was hit in the head, police said. Both were taken to Stroger Hospital, where the man was listed in good condition and the woman in serious condition.

    Police said the shooting appeared to stem from a road rage incident but had no details.

    The gun violence Wednesday and early Thursday also including two fatal shootings, both in the Austin neighborhood.
    One of them occurred in the 5800 block of West Augusta Boulevard in the Austin neighborhood around 5:30 p.m. when someone opened hired from a car at two men, said Officer Thomas Sweeney, a police spokesman.
    A 22-year-old man was hit in the wrist and the chest and was taken to Loyola University Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead, Sweeney said. A 21-year-old man also was wounded and went to West Suburban Medical Center in Oak Park, where he was in good condition with a gunshot wound to his finger and arm, Sweeney said.
    In the same neighborhood, a 28-year-old man was found dead in a vacant lot in the 5400 block of West Walton Street at 9:35 p.m., said Officer Laura Amezaga, a police spokeswoman.
    The man suffered a single gunshot wound to the head and was pronounced dead at the scene, Amezaga said. Police News Affairs was releasing no further information about the killing.
    Other shootings:
    — Around midnight, a 34-year-old man was wounded in the Logan Square neighborhood on the Northwest Side, said Officer Ron Gaines, a police spokesman.
    The man was in a car in the 2600 block of West North Avenue when someone in another vehicle pulled up and fired shots, Gaines said. The victim's car drove on the sidewalk and crashed into a building, Gaines said.





    The man was shot in the neck and was taken to Stroger Hospital in fair condition, Gaines said.
    Mike Quaranto, who lives on the third floor of a building where the shooting happened, said he was in his garage, getting ready to go to work, what he heard what sounded like fireworks. He went back to his condo to check on his wife. When he stepped out onto his balcony, facing North Avenue, he saw a man lying on the street.
    “I saw his white tennis shoes and some blood,” he said. “I was kind of out of it.”
    — About 11:15 p.m., a 23-year-old man was wounded in the Gresham neighborhood on the South Side, Gaines said. The man was standing outside in the 600 block of West 80th Street when he was shot, Gaines said.
    The man was hit in the leg and groin, and he was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where his condition stabilized, Gaines said.
    — About 10:30 p.m., a 30-year-old man was wounded in the Homan Square neighborhood on the West Side, Gaines said.
    The man was in a vehicle in the 3400 block of West Flournoy Street when someone walking nearby fired shots, Gaines said. The man was hit in the chest, arm and wrist. He was taken to Stroger Hospital in critical condition, Gaines said.
    — About 10 p.m., a 21-year-old man was shot in the 6700 block of South Blackstone Avenue in the Grand Crossing neighborhood. He went to Jackson Park Hospital and was listed in good condition.
    — About 7:30 p.m., a 15-year-old boy was shot in Rogers Park on the Far North Side, police said. The boy was outside when a vehicle pulled up and someone inside fired shots, hitting the boy in the arm. He was taken to Presence St. Francis Hospital in Evanston, where he was in good condition, Quaid said.
    — A 23-year-old man was shot in the Ashburn neighborhood, Quaid said. The shooting happened at 5:15 p.m. in the 3400 block of West 83rd Place. The man was outside a home when a vehicle drove by and someone inside fired, Quaid said. The man managed to run into the home and was taken to Holy Cross Hospital with gunshot wounds to his buttocks and upper leg. The man's condition was stabilized.
    — An 18-year-old man was shot at 3 p.m. in the East Garfield Park neighborhood, Quaid said. The man was in the 3100 block of West Walnut Street when a black SUV pulled up and someone inside began firing, Quaid said. The man was shot in the right leg and managed to get to Mount Sinai Hospital where he was in good condition.
    — A 22-year-old man was critically wounded in the 7100 block of South Cornell Avenue in the South Shore neighborhood around 1:15 p.m., Quaid said. A gunman got out of a blue SUV and began firing, hitting the man in the neck, right leg and back. The victim was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital in critical condition.
    — At 1:05 p.m. two people were shot in the 6400 block of South Vernon Avenue in the West Woodlawn neighborhood, Quaid said. A 32-year-old man was shot in the left buttock when someone chased him and began firing. A stray bullet struck a 64-year-old woman in the buttocks, he said. Both victims were taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital, where their conditions had stabilized, Quaid said.
    — A 17-year-old girl was shot in the 200 block of North Latrobe Avenue in the Austin neighborhood, Amezaga said. The girl was hit in the right arm at 12:15 p.m. when a car pulled up and someone inside began firing, Amezaga said. The girl was taken to Stroger Hospital in good condition, she said.

    — At 12:05 p.m. two people were shot as they stood on a porch in the 5500 block of South Shields Avenue in the Englewood neighborhood, police said. A 20-year-old woman was shot in the foot and was taken in good condition to St. Bernard Hospital. A 29-year-old man was shot in the buttocks and also was taken in good condition to Advocate Christ Medical Center, Amezaga said.
    — At 9:40 a.m., a 17-year-old boy was shot in the 1000 block of North Ridgeway Avenue in the Humboldt Park neighborhood, Quaid said. The teen was hit in the right arm when he was caught in the crossfire as two people shot at each other, according to what he told police. The teen managed to get to Norwegian American Hospital, where he was in good condition, Quaid said.
