Palin's 'One Nation' Tour Bus Vandalized In New York

NEW YORK (PIX11)— Fresh off her Times Square pizza summit with Donald Trump, Sarah Palin carried on with her tour of the Big Apple Wednesday, paying visits to such treasured landmarks like Ellis Island and the Statue of Liberty.

Although Palin was greeted with hand shakes and smiles from local admirers, her visit to New York wasn't immune to some hometown detractors.

Sarah Palin While Palin and company met with top brass at FOX News headquarters in Midtown, an unknown vandal managed to tag the former Alaska governor's patriotic-themed "One Nation" tour bus.

"I, the media whore," read a hand written poster plastered on the side of the bus already donning an over-sized "We, The People" preamble to the United States Constitution. Rumproast posted several of the photos on its site Wednesday.

The sign managed to stay on the bus for a reported 15 minutes before being removed by a Palin aide.

Although she hasn't made any official announcement yet, many believe Palin's much-talked about bus tour to the country's historic sites is the first part of a kickoff to a possible Presidential run in 2012.

Rumored presidential candidate Sarah Palin has taken plenty of heat for her ambiguous, unorthodox, and press-unfriendly "One Nation" bus tour. But MSNBC's Martin Bashir has gone beyond routine criticism, suggesting that Palin's east-coast jaunt might be "in breach of federal law." Citing the United States Flag Code, Bashir says you can't use the nation's flag in any form of advertising and Palin, he argues, is using her bus, which is plastered with giant images of the flag, not for campaigning, but for "filling her pockets." Does he have a point, or is this just an anti-Palin cheap shot?

This guy does not know what he is talking about: Martin Bashir is an ignorant political hack, says Alex Fitzsimmons at News Busters. The nonpartisan Congressional Research Service, which provides legal advice to Congress, says observance of the Flag Code is strictly voluntary. And if the Supreme Court says you can burn the flag, surely you can decorate a bus with it.

This is hypocritical and blatant Palin-bashing: Bashir is just singling out Palin because she's conservative, says Patterico's Pontifications. Why didn't he complain when Barack Obama, and Hillary Clinton, and John Kerry — Democrats all — used the flag in their political ads? The fact is that "politicians wrap themselves in the flag all the time." And Bashir's own network has liberally, and inappropriately, splashed the flag on the screen, too.

It may be legal, but Palin is exploiting the flag: "Palin is not promoting a book, a candidacy, or anything but herself," says Alex Moore at Death + Taxes. There are indeed no legal penalties for violating the Flag Code, as "it's more just a base line code for decency and respect." But this blatant exploitation of the stars and stripes proves that Palin is a charlatan who sells herself as the pinnacle of patriotism, but "can't even rise to meet this basic benchmark" of decency.

Me too sacredrage what happen to security at fox where shes employed.Today she said it was Todds idea for the bus tour.YEAH RIGHT She loves the attention.She not going to run all this is for her next tv and book releases not good for the GOP by taking all the attention from other possibilaties.And she is doing it everytime Bachman speaks they ask her about Palin.

It figures something like this would come out of liberal New York. The "McCain March" back in 2008 comes to mind. The marchers were holding McCain Palin signs and the people on the sidewalks were screaming, spitting, name calling, giving the finger, etc.....so this comes as no surprise.

Ah, but it's so much fun to watch the news idiots chasing her on vacation. I need a laugh now and again. Screw the GOP, the Democrats, and the lamestream media. Play 'em like fish Sarah!

If this was a sign on paper that was taped on the side of the bus---no big deal. If it had been spray painted on that would be much different. Sounds like it was just a poster.

The picture I saw looked like a piece of paper taped to the side of the bus.

Sarah Palin's tour a rolling menace


SEABROOK, N.H. — Sarah Palin’s bus is plastered with a mock-up of the U.S. Constitution. But her entourage — both the three-vehicle motorcade that includes the bus and the smaller, two-SUV version she uses for smaller events — hasn’t been very respectful of traffic laws.

They speed. They run red lights and stop signs. They make last-second lane changes to get off the highway, sometimes without signaling.

So do the reporters following them.
