Sept. 30 (Bloomberg) -- Voters flooded Capitol Hill offices today with complaints about the U.S. House's defeat of the $700 billion financial-rescue plan, a House Republican leadership aide said.

The tenor of the calls is a reversal from an earlier outpouring of voter opposition to the bailout legislation, the aide said.

KEEP THE PRESSURE ON ESPECIALLY WITH THIS SILLINESS OCCURRING.

not what i heard from the offices i called.
they said calls are still against this piece of work and voters and consituents are happy for those who voted no, and mad as hell for those who voted yes

Disinformation, remember the media was pushing in favor of the bailout with their constant gloom and doom reporting.

All those calling were probably the Wall Street executives, lobbyists, family members and other interests that stood to profit from the bailout.

SentYeaH! GOD BLESSED AMERICA!!! Let THE greedy banks that start of charging 10% for subprime loans and higher and than have them adjustable to well over 15% lower their.....rates! Maybe less foreclosures!!!! Lets change the banking laws!!!! Also the credit card racket where one can charge exhorbant rates....is that racketeering!!!! I am 60 and have a home equity loan with Chase which I am happy about, but when I got the divorce and the good ole boy judge didn't give me enough to live on and sided with my cheating husband, I asked Chase to extend the 15 year loan to 20 to lower the payments and they refused to on the basis I did not make enough of money!!!! So the logic is the less money you make the more money you pay for a home equity laon.!!!! SCREW THE BAILOUT. LET SOME OF THOSE BANKS GO UNDER!!! Maybe take your cash out and put it into something else. IF RECENTLY I SAW THE FDIC COULD FAIL THEN THERE WOULD BE NO MONEY TO GUARANTEE OUR SAVINGS!???? OR IS THAT A PREFABRICATED STORY I READ IN THE PAPER. ANYWAY, TO THOSE OF YOU WHO VOTED TO BACK THIS CRAZY BAILOUT WITH NO HELP TO HOMEOWNERS AND THOSE ABOUT TO LOOSE THEIR HOMES OR NO CHANGE IN BANKING LAWS RELATING TO EXHORBANT RATES (SEEMS LIKES WE REGULATED RATES IN SOME AREAS IN THE 1970.'S SO LETS REGULATE BANKING RATES TO HOMEOWNERS - THE SO CALLED AMERICAN DREAM HAS BECOME AN AMERICAN NIGHTMARE BECAUSE OF UNGODLY LENDING PRACTICES!!! GOD WATCHES THIS COUNTRY AND THE GREED OF INSTITUTIONS IS DESTROYING IT!!!

While the sheeple around me continued to defend this act of theft and extortion, as the TV told them to, the few, the proud, and angry gathered here on MW and elsewhere, and deluged our leaders with calls, letters and emails, telling them to get their resumes together, as they were going to be out of a job if this bill passed.

SentI will take that pledge and I will write in Ron Paul. He is the one who begged everyone to contact their leaders and get this bill rejected in the first place. We can thank his insight for this and we'd be lucky to have someone so sensible as president for the next 4 years

SentThank you BWT. This rout is a no confidence vote not only on the Federal Rserve, Ron Paul wants to abolish it, but also on Congress and the US government. Isn't there something call dereliction of duty, fraud and conspiracy to defraud? Where's the cops? Where's the AG? This always happens when Bush is sober!


SentFew if any politicians, Wall Street moguls, or economists have been straightforward with America about the economic meltdown and the current bailout proposal (HR 3997). It's hard to know what to believe, but these people have a track record of deceiving the working class.


There have been a few who talked of crisis and the dangers of unfettered markets: Liberal economists Nouriel Roubini and Robert Shiller, and historian Stephen Mihm, on the academic side and Warren Buffet and Mort Zuckerman on the business side provided pieces of information over the last few years. But the information was drowned out by the louder imprudent voices promoting this craze of crazes. This last among many crises undermining the working-class took decades to be created.

To many people on TV made it sound like them not passing a bill was a bad thing.
