Pay, hours worked edge up in June

Small businesses aren’t adding many jobs, but slowly they are having existing employees work more hours and paying slightly more. That’s according to data from 57,000 small-business users Intuit Online Payroll.

The uptick in hours worked was modest: 0.05% in June, but is a reversal of the 0.1% decline in May, Intuit said. “The month-to-month changes reflect what is shown in federal employment data for small businesses when there are corresponding time ranges leading us to believe that they are informative about the overall economy.â€
