Man accused in fellow Marine's death captured

CNN) -- U.S. Marine Cpl. Cesar Laurean, the main suspect in the killing of a 20-year-old pregnant Marine, has been captured in Mexico, federal authorities announced Thursday.

In January, the FBI released this picture of fugitive Marine Cpl. Cesar Laurean and the tattoo on his left arm.

Authorities are awaiting extradition to bring Laurean, who has been on the run since January, back to North Carolina.

Lance Cpl. Maria Lauterbach was eight months pregnant at the time of her disappearance in December. A month later, her charred body, along with that of her fetus, was found beneath a fire pit in Laurean's North Carolina backyard.

Laurean has been charged with murder in the death of Lauterbach. Investigators found the body after Laurean's wife came forward with a note her husband had written saying he had buried Lauterbach after she slit her own throat during an argument.
