BBC journalists covering Virginia shooting 'threatened by police,' forced to delete footage

Two BBC journalists say they were threatened by Virginia police after filming the scene where gunman Bryce Williams crashed and shot himself on Wednesday. They say a cop threatened to confiscate their camera and car if they did not delete their footage.
White House reporter Tara McKelvey and videojournalist Fraz Strasser were among the first to arrive at the scene on I-66, where Bryce Williams – also known as Vester Flanagan – crashed his vehicle and shot himself hours after killing journalists Alison Parker and Adam Ward during a live news broadcast in Virginia.
Strasser tweeted that he and McKelvey were told the footage “could be evidence,” and that they were forced to delete it. He added that a cop by the name of Officer Clark threatened to tow their car because it was apparently illegally parked.
Reason for confiscating camera was that it was evidence. Threatened to tow the car because it was illegally parked.
    — Franz Strasser (@franzstrasser) August 26, 2015
Strasser said the officer watched him delete his file and let him go. Another officer reportedly “apologized and said we have to understand,” he tweeted.
He noted, however, that the fact that law enforcement wanted to delete “evidence” made him “question their reasoning.”
But why they are then okay with deleting 'evidence' makes one question their reasoning.
    — Franz Strasser (@franzstrasser) August 26, 2015
Strasser said that he decided to delete the footage because “it was either not being able to work for the rest of the day, without camera or car, or delete crappy footage from far away.” He added that he “chose the latter.”
He and McKelvery were able, however, to recover some photos from the moment they were asked to delete their footage.

Strasser's initial tweet quickly gained traction online, and appeared in the BBC's live coverage of the Virginia shootings. Following this, a spokesperson the Virginia police reached out to him on Twitter.
“VSP is aware of this incident and we are looking into it, as such actions violate VSP [Virginia State Police] policy,” Corinne Geller wrote.

The BBC's bureau chief in the US, Paul Danahar, tweeted directly to the VSP spokesperson, asking to “exchange contacts” with her.
Virginia police reportedly have a history of acting against those filming them.
Last year, 19-year-old Devin Thomas was found guilty of disorderly conduct and resisting arrest after recording police activity in his neighborhood, and was sentenced to community service. Thomas said the claims were unwarranted, adding that an officer assaulted him after knocking his cell phone out of his hand.
Another case involved 22-year-old Jeremiah Schwenk, who claimed that a Norfolk officer pushed his camera phone away from him after a confrontation.
The American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) of Virginia says its office has documented citizens who have been charged for filming police – usually as a violation of wiretapping laws.
“Using the wiretapping law to stop videotaping is a stretch, to be sure, but labeling the videotaping of police as disorderly conduct or obstruction of justice is creating new law out of thin air,” the ACLU of Virginia wrote on its website.

UN? Where have I heard that before? Oh THATS RIGHT, Thats the Group who WAS CALLED the "Leage of Nations", until their name was CHANGED AFTER IT WAS FOUND OUT WHAT AND WHO THEY WERE. They are AGENDA 21, CLIMATE CHANGE/GEOENGINEERING, AND NOW THEY WANT TO TAKE OUR GUNS, SO WE WONT BE ABLE TO DO ANYTHING ABOUT THE SUBVERSION THAT HAS HAPPENED TO OUR REPUBLIC.
BUT EVEN THOUGH 30 YEARS AGO THEY WERE SAYING "ANOTHER ICE AGE", AND NOW IT'S "WE ARE GOING TO BURN AND MELT", SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT IS GOOD RIGHT? Whats not to trust? The Fake Statistics? The emails stating such? The "Hockey Stick?" The installations of Thermostats on BLACK PAVEMENT to increase Temps at Air Ports? Al Gore? The MASSIVE WEATHER MODIFICATIONS Operations HAPPENING RIGHT NOW IN THE U.S. and ALL OVER THE WORLD? They sound like GOOD GUYS.

I guess the IRON MOUNTAIN REPORT just gets truer and truer as time goes by. That must be just a COINCIDENCE TOO.

Obama back at it, In Mexico for UN to control guns via Treaty

We should have learned with the fiasco over the so-called Iran nuclear deal. Obama went straight to the U.N. Let us not forget this little number called the UN Arms Trade Treaty. He wants our guns registered big time for a start, and here is how he plans on doing it. Here we go:
On August 24 officials from the Obama administration will be attending the UN Arms Trade Treaty (ATT) conference in Mexico City.
The ATT was signed by Secretary of State John Kerry on September 25, 2013 but never ratified by the US Senate. Nevertheless, Gun Owners of America reports that Obama officials will be in Mexico City for the conference.
Breitbart News previously reported that the ATT is an international gun control treaty designed to be implemented apart from, or in spite of, the general framework of governance for countries that are signatories to it.
Thus, while it will not do away with the Second Amendment on paper, it will subjugate the Second Amendment to the ATT’s gun controls if Obama administration officials return and implement the plans they will discuss in Mexico City. https://reclaimourrepublic.wordpress...ns-via-treaty/

Obama vows to keep at gun control: 'This is just the first round'

President Barack Obama vowed Thursday during a trip to Mexico to continue pushing for new, tighter gun control rules in the United States, saying his proposals’ recent defeat in Congress was “just the first round.”
Speaking following a meeting with Mexican President Enrique Peña Nieto, whose country has been ravaged by gang violence supported in part by gun trafficking into Mexico, Obama vowed to return to the issue of gun control in the United States.

President Barack Obama and Mexico's President Enrique Pena Nieto speak during a news conference after attending a bilateral meeting at the National Palace in Mexico City May 2, 2013.

“The last time we had major gun legislation, it took 6, 7, 8 tries to get passed,” Obama said at a press conference following his meeting with the Mexican president. “Things happen somewhat slowly in Washington, but this is just the first round.”
Democratic leaders in the Senate were forced to shelve a bipartisan proposal expanding background checks for firearms sold online and at gun shows when it failed to receive the requisite 60 votes to survive a filibuster threat. The measure’s Democratic proposal, West Virginia Sen. Joe Manchin, has vowed to fight to bring that proposal back up for another vote.
And in an article published Wednesday, the proposal’s Republican author, Pennsylvania Sen. Pat Toomey, suggested that politics were afoot in many GOP senators’ decision to oppose the package.
“There were some on my side who did not want to be seen helping the president do something he wanted to get done, just because the president wanted to do it," Toomey told local newspaper editors. http://firstread.nbcnews.com/_news/2...he-first-round

Michele Obama "My husband's Bigest ‘frustration’ is gun control."

    By - Associated Press - Thursday, July 23, 2015
WASHINGTON (AP) - President Barack Obama says the issue that has left him “the most stymied” is the debate over gun control.
Obama tells the BBC he is “frustrated” that the U.S. does not have “commonsense gun safety laws, even in the face of repeated mass killings.”
Obama says that while fewer than 100 Americans have been killed by terrorism since September 11, 2001, tens of thousands have been killed by gun violence.

He says the nation’s inability to resolve the issue is “distressing” but that he intends to keep working on it.
Obama’s interview with the BBC was recorded Thursday afternoon, hours before a deadly shooting at a Louisiana movie theater.
